  • The banter of the Level Up crew is fun to listen to and you can tell they love games. The 8bit breakdowns are a great way to learn about the features of game to evaluate if it for me, friends or family to play or add to the collection.

  • My Feel Good Board Game Podcast

This is the board game podcast I didn’t know I needed, but can’t live without. I’m a solo gamer, largely because my friends and family look at me sideways when I talk about gaming, but also because I find people in real life exhausting. So, I like to listen to board gam podcasts to stay abreast of new games and to feel like I’m part of the conversation of what I like and don’t like about various games. With this podcast, I feel like I’m in a conversation with a few guys that I’ve been friends wi... more

  • Fun favorite

This podcast has become a quick favorite! I love the genuine conversation about board games instead of just pushing the latest hotness. These guys know what they like and aren’t afraid to talk about it. I love the 8-but theme and the extra effort put into transition music between topics. Very professional. I hope to meet these guys at a convention one day!

Episode 167: Sidequest! Beasts and Diplomacy!
Q: Can you name another board game that might be similar?
While there are board games that inspired it, I designed Beasts and Diplomacy to do things fairly differently and solve problems I found in existing games.

Q: If you didn't have board games in your life, what would your main hobby be?
Scott would engage in model building or kite flying, while Patrick imagines woodworking or engaging in some other creative activity.
Episode 147: Galileo Galilei, plus Ark Nova, LOTR Duel, Questions & More!
Q: What are some criminally underused board game themes?
King Scott misses the theme of naval battles, while Patrick longs for simulation games like running a grocery store.
Episode 144: Sidequest! Estate: Raise the Realm!
Q: What began the inception of your game? What started that whole thing?
The inception came during COVID when we realized we had played all the games in our collection and wanted something to scratch the itch of different mechanics we loved.
Episode 127: Sidequest! Cyber Pet Quest
Q: What was one big thing that stood out in your mind that made the standout makes you want to go like, I can't wait till the Kickstarter comes out?
For me, it's all about those action tokens and how they can lead to different outcomes based on the environment.
