I’m not a big listener of podcasts, but the Laundry gets me excited every week for a new release! As someone who works in the field of financial crime, I used to find most podcasts on related topics to be too dry, too specific and not engaging. Discovering The Laundry has made me engaged on a whole other level!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Re-Spin: What the 1MDB scandal tells us about how the world really works
Q: Was the China part Jho Low's idea or China's idea?
It appears to have been Jho Low's orchestration, designed to pull China into a broader web of influence, with others acting as willing co-conspirators, making it seem like it was China's plan.
Re-Spin: What the 1MDB scandal tells us about how the world really works
Q: Okay, the question was what was the Malaysian Prime Minister's incentive to go along with this?
Greed, control over resources, and a belief that access to a separate pool of funds could clean up politics, coupled with the allure of wealth and power that made corrupt funding feel justifiable at the time.
E160: CFO, CEO, CCO – who owns AI in compliance?
Q: What is the biggest obstacle to moving from pilot to full implementation of AI in compliance?
Governance and an appropriate investment curve that matches a scalable operating model, not just a handful of pilot projects.
E160: CFO, CEO, CCO – who owns AI in compliance?
Q: Who should own AI in compliance within the organization?
Ownership is distributed—everywhere in the organization—but the CFO, CEO, and CCO must align on a shared strategic vision and governance to balance effectiveness and cost.
E160: CFO, CEO, CCO – who owns AI in compliance?
Q: What's the single biggest misconception a C-suite leader has when they start thinking about AI in compliance?
The misconception is that AI will instantly replace many roles; in reality, the bigger challenge is implementing AI in a way that enhances effectiveness and aligns with a long-term strategic operating model rather than just cutting costs.
