  • The Jew Function Podcast is relevant

This podcast is very relevant. Both as woman and educator, I would recommend to listen it and in particular the part three on the birth of Zionism and the relationship between Jews in Europe. I also see it as well as a foundational learning tool to enable connection for all, starting from school, family and community.Keep it current! Thanks. Ari

  • How is this not playing in every Jewish home?!?

I was blown away by the systemic explanation of these guys. It’s history mixed with quantum physics mixed with network science and a few other things I can’t exactly make out. I don’t know if this holds the solution to antisemitism but it’s the first comprehensive discussion on it that’s not falling into the same “stop being an antisemite” solution.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

TJF Talks #132 | Jessica Silverman - never again?
Q: How would you explain what Jews are to an alien from another planet?
She describes Jews as a people united by religion, culture, language, and history, with a shared commitment to education, memory, and the land of Israel, along with a strong sense of community that transcends geographic borders.
TJF Talks #132 | Jessica Silverman - never again?
Q: What lessons do you hope to instill in people that you teach?
Jessica emphasizes turning grandparent stories into personal, memorable lessons that cultivate empathy and responsibility in students, showing how individual choices in the face of oppression can inspire action and protect others.
TJF Talks #131 | Dahlia Kurtz - Journalist, activist, storyteller
Q: What pushed you from just being a journalist, working in the media, into this very public fight?
Freedom and a sense of responsibility to protect people, especially in the face of rising antisemitism, pushed me to take action beyond reporting. I wanted to help, not just observe.
TJF Talks #129 | Ateret Violet Shmuel, from far left to the center of the heart
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to build a more inclusive, powerful tribe without sacrificing authenticity?
Start with personal accountability and metacognition, then deepen your knowledge of traditions that fuel identity while embracing humility to adjust beliefs when confronted with new truths. Build community through shared rituals, mutual aid, and a commitment to protecting others' rights, while actively promoting unity across differences within and between Indigenous and Jewish communities.
TJF Talks #129 | Ateret Violet Shmuel, from far left to the center of the heart
Q: How do you define Indigenous identity in your work, and how does it relate to Jewish identity?
Indigenous identity, as I define it, centers on ethnogenesis tied to land, language, and culture, and I apply that framework to Jews as an Indigenous people through an ideologic lens. The aim is to unite communities under shared traditions while respecting distinct histories, creating a bridge between Jewish heritage and Indigenous rights to foster mutual resilience.
