A critical re-evaluation of comic books from about 1985 to 2000… including, of course, the boom and bust of the '90s! Go beyond the chromium covers and grim 'n' gritty cliches for a deeper look at one of the most divisive periods in comics history. Hosts Justin Zyduck and Jim Cannon share context, commentary, and a few laughs on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

A while back, I had wondered if there was a podcast that did a retrospective focused on 90s comics. I was actually thinking about something that focused mostly on the early 90s extreme style stuff, but what I found with Iron Age was so much better.
First off, the idea of labeling this period from post-Bronze Age up until around 2001 the Iron Age is a great idea. I have no idea why we as comics fans continue to lump everything from the past 30-40 years as just “the modern age” when we don’t do ... more
Listened to a handful of episodes and now I’m going through the back catalog and gentlemen, well done. I laugh, I learn, and really like what you have here. Keep it up.
I am from a certain age that the late 1980s to the 1990s was a pivotal time in comics for me. The Iron Age of Comics looks at a wide range of comics from this time period with a fair and balanced nuanced analysis. They cover the obvious tentpoles like Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. But the show goes beyond the obvious and also covers the forgotten stories that made up the era. How many other comic podcasts take a serious look at Hawkworld or Green Lantern Emerald Dawn? None I could find.

Justin and Jim bring a scholarly approach to the comic books they review and I am here for it! Not only is it entertaining, you learn a thing or two. Well done! - Eric from Longbox Review
The hosts are intelligent and well-spoken, and strike a balance of context, criticism, and general discussion that’s hard to pull off in an audio medium covering comics. They keep a positive vibe even when they dislike something or disagree. Would love to hear them cover the Ostrander SUICIDE SQUAD run!
