  • Propaganda & Crisis Manufacturers

The name of the group tells it all - there is significant moral hazard with their analyses. What if there was no crises? Obviously an existential threat. They have absolutely no credibility among a vast majority of informed Africans and citizens of the Horn. Westerners in Africa, getting western funding to “analyze crises” -besides the colonial stink – does one expect to get anything impartial? More likely: Parrot donor policy and exaggeration/perpetuation of crises. Probably explains why at lea... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bonus Episode: Will Ethiopia and Eritrea Start a Regional War?
Q: Murithi, could we end with a few wider questions to sort of reflect a bit on the geopolitical moment we're in and how that looks from the Horn and from Africa more broadly?
The region faces a split between acute crisis in some areas and notable, youth-driven economic growth elsewhere; ad hoc coalitions and targeted diplomacy will be crucial as global powers recalibrate their engagement, with Africa seeking to shape its own multilateral responses rather than relying on traditional hegemonies.
Bonus Episode: Will Ethiopia and Eritrea Start a Regional War?
Q: And if, Murithi, let's say there's some sort of escalation in Tigray, maybe starting over these disputed areas that you talked about, Addis accuses Asmara back in the TPLF against federal forces, uses the moment to launch an offensive to capture Asab, this port that Ethiopia appears to be eying. It seems very unclear now how a conflict like that would end up and will come to Sudan in a moment and how that might affect things.
Escalation could cascade into a protracted, messy conflict with uncertain endings, drawing in regional actors and complicating diplomacy; a sustainable de-escalation path will require credible, multiparty diplomacy and respect for negotiated borders.
Uganda after Museveni
Q: What does Museveni's advanced age mean for the political stability in Uganda?
With Museveni nearing 82, his diminishing control and leadership capacity raises concerns about Uganda's future political stability.
Uganda after Museveni
Q: Is General Salim Saleh considered a potential successor to Museveni?
Salim Saleh, Museveni's half-brother, is considered a key power broker and mediator but has not indicated ambitions to become a political successor.
Uganda after Museveni
Q: What comes after President Museveni?
There is no succession plan and the only considered successors are from the first family, especially Muhoozi, which creates a politically tense environment.
