  • Great show

Love to hear all the ex players and ex people associated with the IU basketball program could do with a little less storytelling, but Eric likes to hear himself talk. Ward on the other hand, I don’t think anyone minds his storytelling because he is very down to earth and modest.

  • Keep up the pressure on hoops

It’s nice to hear guys who seem to share same passion yet massive frustration with MBB but had such a great ride chronicling the undefeated football season. Keep doing what you do because of your love for IU athletics. Wish you had a text feed we could share in during basketball games - I think the commentary would mirror what my IU bud and I go through!

  • Matt Weaver discussion

Lively and fun conversation about the IU pounding Illinois as well as the fact that this team is better than last year’s team. Appreciate Matt’s perspective and background with IU FB…what might make a fun future podcast as I send this on the eve of the Iowa game….many of us would love to know the agenda/operations of a college FB road trip…..for example, once they arrive in town, x,y,z happens, then A, etc….like now (at 6:30 pm CT) the evening before the game (after dinner) what are the players... more

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

IU HOOPS ANALYSIS with EVAN MIYAKAWA
Q: Based on everything that's happened in the off-season, does your analytics predict Indiana to win another national championship in football?
Evan responds confidently that Indiana football feels inevitable in his view, signaling optimism about the program's trajectory under current developments and roster moves.
IU HOOPS ANALYSIS with EVAN MIYAKAWA
Q: What are the key indicators in your model when evaluating a player moving to a new team versus returning to the same team?
He notes that he uses a different model for players staying with their current team versus transferring, because a player's impact can change with a new environment. He emphasizes multi-dimensional players as more likely to translate well when moving up a level and discusses how transfer context alters expected impact.
IU HOOPS ANALYSIS with EVAN MIYAKAWA
Q: So, Evan, let's talk about your model and your predictive modeling. How accurate, when you go back and look at your predictions versus results, have you been?
Evan explains that while no model is perfect, his goal is to be right more often than wrong and to achieve a strong correlation between predicted values and actual outcomes. He notes that preseason roster talent often explains about 80% of season results, with the remaining 20% driven by coaching and other factors, and that his site hosts data on many players to assess accuracy over time.
IUFB Spring Game & NFL Draft with Matt Weaver
Q: What stood out to you from the spring game on the field?
The defense looked improved with several new faces making impact plays, while the offense showed some early rust but promises with players like Turbo Richard and Tyler Morris; overall the evaluation was positive about future potential.
MATT BROWN on IUMBB'S MASSIVE BUDGET
Q: What are the major takeaways about the ROI of big spending in basketball?
High spending correlates with top-tier programs but does not guarantee on-court success; the quality of coaching, roster construction, and development often matter more than sheer dollars spent.
