  • Oops I forgot to write a review

I’ve been listening long enough that I suppose I wrongly assumed I already wrote a review for this podcast. It appears I have not, until now. What can I say? It’s a great show, though it may take a few episodes to get used to the style (unless you still listen to radio, grandpa). I always look forward to a new episode popping up, so that’s a good sign. I enjoy the variety of episode formats and range of topics, as well as guests and the additional hosts of the Superfriends. A+, five stars, all t... more

  • Very thankful

I was recently hospitalized for ten days. Was told that I might not make it. Humbled. Repeatedly thought of “what is your only comfort in life and in death?” Am home but things are iffy. Jesus is still my only comfort. Thank you 🙂

  • Wonderful podcast

I always benefit from this podcast, but especially from the discussions with the Superfriends. When my family is on a roadtrip, we enjoy listening to the fruitful discussions, and always look forward to the intro: “The best podcast, the Heidelcast.” Thanks to Dr. Clark and the Superfriends for promoting Reformed theology, piety and practice. I recommend this to anyone seeking a better understanding of what Confessional Reformed theology is.

  • Not like others

Heidelcast is not like other Reformed podcasts. It is not a list of sermons. It is not a couple of guys spending more time on themselves than on God. But it is a tool to impart Reformed piety and practice in all of life

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Heidelcast: Superfriends Saturday: Canons of Dort 3&4.17: How do Admonitions Function Under the Covenant of Grace?
Q: How exactly is grace conferred by admonitions?
Grace is conveyed through admonitions as the minister proclaims the gospel and explains the moral implications of scripture within the administration of the Word, sacraments, and discipline; this does not turn the covenant of grace into a covenant of works, but uses exhortations to foster sanctification.
Heidelcast: Superfriends Saturday: Disciplining Children
Q: How should parents think about disciplining children within a Christian framework, especially in light of premarital planning and family formation?
Discipline should be framed as discipleship: teach first, set clear boundaries, and discipline with the aim of correction and growth. Acknowledge mistakes when you err, model repentance, and ensure love is evident after corrections. Use Scripture as a guide for what boundaries look like, and commit to consistent, thoughtful, age-appropriate discipline that respects each child's temperament.
Heidelcast: Superfriends Saturday: Are Theaters & Movies, Card Playing, and General Entertainment Sinful? Or, Have We Become Lax as Christians?
Q: Are theaters slash movies sinful?
No, not per se; the discernment centers on content and its potential to provoke unclean thoughts, with prudence advised in choosing what to watch.
Heidelcast: Superfriends Saturday: The Error of Sandemanianism
Q: Would you please discuss the error of Sandamanianism?
The guests explain that Sandamanianism prioritizes intellectual assent and redefines faith in a way that can downplay personal trust in Christ, while acknowledging that genuine faith should produce fruits and life change; the concern is to preserve justification by faith while avoiding reduction of faith to mere cognition.
Superfriends Saturday: "Be Fruitful and Multiply" - How Does this Command Apply to Families Who Cannot Naturally Have Children?
Q: How can we fulfill both the command to be fruitful and multiply and the Great Commission in families unable to have children?
Adoption is a crucial avenue through which couples can fulfill both commands, contributing positively to the church community and embracing children in need of families.
