  • Addictive

Love the banter, the guests, the insight into the industry, and the dry (as a bone sometimes) sense of humor. And the commercials. Good GOD, the commercials.

    This show is genius.

  • Great fun to listen to

A pipe and tobacco podcast is a great thing. This, is not exactly that. It is however an awesome pipe and tobacco adjacent podcast, most of the time. It is genuinely, weirdly funny, intelligent and flows naturally through topics of interest to the hosts. They have surprise guests from the industry, as well as odd characters from the community. Very much like sitting down for a pipe having a conversation with friends. Well done boys.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Uncle Don Saves The Day!
Q: What does the UPCA mean to you personally?
Community. It is a living, multi-generational network that connects people who share a passion for pipes, history, and culture, providing a sense of belonging and a platform to celebrate artists and clubs nationwide.
Uncle Don Saves The Day!
Q: What got you interested in being part of the UPCA board?
I benefited a lot from UPCA member clubs and the federation as a whole; moving to Seattle and discovering slow smoke and the UPCA hooked me and made me want to give back to a community that had given me so much.
It has been quite some time.
Q: You went through one bitter phase at the end of Sutliff, and there was a promise of one day revealing exactly what pissed you off about the whole ordeal. Is there anything you want to talk about now that you're a year out?
He reflects that, while the bitterness was tied to strategic disputes and product decisions during his tenure, he preferred focusing on what worked and moving forward, emphasizing the desire for mutual respect and clarity in industry dealings rather than airing every grievance.
UHLE'S 00
Q: If you had to pick one focus for UPCA growth, what would it be?
Focusing on growing the hobby by supporting show outreach and club formation, providing pamphlets, and helping new members start local clubs as ground zero for expansion.
UHLE'S 00
Q: What are some ways to get more people involved in UPCA and clubs?
He advocates for encouraging friend groups to bring others into the hobby, reducing stigma, and presenting pipe smoking as a modern, approachable hobby rather than a niche activity.
