  • High value

The episodes that do play are high value; unfortunately, the majority do not play 🤷‍♀️😕 reported to Apple, but typically that does not resolve the issue.

  • Extremely helpful and easy to understand

Y’all are so helpful for my quest for legal help for my never-ending court case. I love how you focus on one topic and simply it. I can rely on your podcasts to find information that is applicable to me and you point me in the right direction as to where to find the answers that apply to my state. I would love a podcast about options to appeal a temporary order before trial.

  • Stay at Home Moms Beware

If you’re a stay at home mom/dad in Columbia County(and many are), do so at your own risk. Judge Padgett does NOT favor this type of marriage and instead will favor the income generating spouse. My ex husband and I were married for ten years and he made close to 200k a year. He cheated and lied, to me, and while on the stand. However, my total alimony award was 6k to be made in $200 monthly installments. I’d also like to add that we were dirt poor when we got married. Sacrifices were made on bot... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 187: Georgia's Equitable Caregiver Act w/ Professor Melissa Carter, Part II
Q: Do you want to talk about that at all?
Yes, I can address that by grounding it in the rationale and the thinking at the time, and explaining how the statute was designed to be flexible yet guardrails remain for tailored relief.
Ep. 186: Georgia's Equitable Caregiver Act w/ Professor Melissa Carter
Q: Professor Carter, walk us through what the four to five criteria are that someone must prove by clear and convincing evidence to be an equitable caregiver.
Professor Carter outlines that the criteria describe a permanent, committed parental role; consistent caretaking; a bonded relationship supported by the other parent; acceptance of full parental responsibilities without compensation; and proof that the child would suffer harm if the relationship ends.
Ep. 185: Electronic Discovery w/ Judge Jane P. Manning
Q: What comes next after parties sign off on an ESI protocol?
Next you appoint a special master to oversee the discovery process, especially in large cases with significant data; you set scheduling orders and craft protective orders to govern privilege and data handling, then manage ongoing issues like search terms and cost sharing.
Ep. 185: Electronic Discovery w/ Judge Jane P. Manning
Q: All right. Electronic discovery is probably something that you deal with with some regularity, true?
Yes, it is a regular issue and requires ongoing adaptation as data storage and technology evolve; the core concerns are about how information is stored, searched, and produced, and how to balance reach with proportionality and cost.
Ep. 182: Frequently Asked Questions re: the Georgia Court of Appeals w/ Judge Brian Rickman
Q: What advice would you give to an attorney who is about to file an appeal in the Court of Appeals?
Ask for oral argument and take the time to carefully read the relevant statutes and rules.
