I really enjoy the background information the hosts provide. I read the books some time ago and this is a fun way to accompany my re-read. Keep up the good work! I would appreciate if you’d continue after the books are done. With Fire & Blood, the novellas of Dunk and Egg and all the fan theories out there, there is still a lot to discuss. Greetings, from Holland.
For context, I’m a university student who first discovered this podcast this past summer. I already loved ASOIAF but you guys have truly deepened my reverence for the series with your analyses of each chapter. Currently, I’m on episode 100 (Arya 6 in ACOK) and I’m thrilled to keep chugging along through your guys’ episodes. I know you guys are now almost finished with ADWD and must be feeling a little bit of bittersweet feelings, but I hope you guys realize how much this podcast influences my d... more
My absolute favorite ASOIAF podcast! I've been listening on and off for a couple years now (truly I don't even know how long... what is time, anyway to George Martin readers!!) I've re-read the series twice already, and this has been such an enjoyable way to revisit it through someone else's eyes! I feel like Simon & Mackelly are my old dear friends, and I've enjoyed hearing about your lives, your kids growing up, and all of Simon's silly stories. As a physicist I enjoy the occasional science... more
I’m not a big podcast listener, but I found this podcast when I started reading the books for the first time earlier this year. There’s so much detail that you miss on a casual read-through and this is a perfect companion podcast (even for a first read) as there are no spoilers. If you’ve watched the show and want to get into the books, this podcast is a must-listen to understand each chapter and the background in it. When I catch up to present-day I will probably just re-listen from the beginni... more
One of my favourite podcasts,
I first started listening a few years back, when I did my first read-through of the books. Back then I wanted something to help me understand every little detail of George R. R. Martins incredible book series. Unfortunately I soon hit the point where new episodes were "only" available once per week. So I grew impatient and continued reading without listening to the podcast along with it. Lucky enough however I rediscovered you guys last year when I ran out of thing... more

Two hosts deliver chapter-by-chapter explorations of a sprawling fantasy saga, pairing detailed summaries with lore background, world-building tidbits, and lively banter. Episodes mix careful analysis with spoiler-light discussions, personal anecdotes, and lighthearted segments like pedantry corner, creating the feel of a friendly, in-depth book club that helps both new readers and seasoned fans deepen their understanding and enjoyment. Standout elements include strong chapter-to-chapter focus, thorough context for events in Westeros and Essos, and a consistent emphasis on background information that enriches the reading experience without spoiling key plot turns.
A notable strength is the balance between rigorous analysis and personable s... more
