  • Generally Like

I enjoy the show for the most part but some of the questions Emily asks are a mile long with multiple tangents in between. Would love to see an English professor try to diagram some of her questions.

  • One of my favorites

Emily Compagno is excellent!!! So bright and articulate. This podcast is one of my favorites! The only criticism is that a lot of the episodes are too short.

Why are there no segments of length any longer?! The vast majority are less than two minutes long.

  • Idaho Murder interview

Good interview but I was surprised at how much the Chief didn’t know. But still very informative.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Gold Club: Mobsters, Money, and Multi-Million Dollar Schemes
Q: What made the Gold Club case unique for federal prosecutors?
The case stood out due to its scale, the involvement of mob connections, the use of insider informants across the club's staff, and the need to connect prostitution, tax fraud, and money skimming into a cohesive racketeering narrative— all while managing a high-profile lineup of celebrity witnesses.
The Colin Gray Case: When Negligence Becomes Murder
Q: How does this case compare to the Crumbley case in Michigan?
Both cases hinge on the idea of conscious disregard and access to a weapon, but the Georgia case elevates to second-degree murder with a clearer emphasis on the guardians' responsibility, potentially setting a broader national standard.
The Colin Gray Case: When Negligence Becomes Murder
Q: What does the quick verdict say about the jury's view of the defense?
The quick verdict suggests the jury was convinced of the father's culpability and that they found the evidence of negligence and conscious disregard compelling, despite the complexity of the case.
The Rembrandt Heist: One of the Boldest Crimes in History
Q: What was the planning that went into the Rembrandt Heist?
The heist involved meticulous planning, including testing if the alarm worked and staging a breakdown to delay police response when stealing Rembrandt's painting.
The Rembrandt Heist: One of the Boldest Crimes in History
Q: What prompted you to write this very special book?
After working for Homeland Security and then investigating and securing art at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, I focused on art crime and wrote multiple books on the topic.
