  • Generally Like

I enjoy the show for the most part but some of the questions Emily asks are a mile long with multiple tangents in between. Would love to see an English professor try to diagram some of her questions.

  • One of my favorites

Emily Compagno is excellent!!! So bright and articulate. This podcast is one of my favorites! The only criticism is that a lot of the episodes are too short.

  • Where is the content???

Why are there no segments of length any longer?! The vast majority are less than two minutes long.

  • Idaho Murder interview

Good interview but I was surprised at how much the Chief didn’t know. But still very informative.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Inside the Mind of a Killer: The Surprising History of Profiling
Q: What first drew you to criminal profiling?
Corbett explains a personal connection to crime that led her to investigate profiling more deeply, combining interviews with police, psychologists, and others to construct a broader understanding rather than a single explanation.
Seconds Count: The Denise Amber Lee Story
Q: Can you describe the impact Denise had on you personally and professionally after the tragedy?
Nathan explains how Denise's memory fueled the Denise Amber Lee Foundation, driving him to advocate for mandatory 911 training and to travel nationwide to share her story, ultimately turning personal grief into a force for systemic reform.
Joseph Duggar Arrest: Reality Star’s Dark History Repeated
Q: What are the jury selection challenges in a high-profile case involving a well-known family, and how can they be mitigated?
The key is thorough voir dire to identify preconceived notions about the family and the case, using questionnaires and individual voir dire to screen for bias; the goal is to assemble a fair jury despite pervasive media coverage and public opinion.
Joseph Duggar Arrest: Reality Star’s Dark History Repeated
Q: How does a recorded confession alter the potential outcomes for a plea or trial in a case like this?
A legitimate confession can be a powerful leverage point for prosecutors and a strong factor in plea negotiations, but the defense will challenge authenticity, voluntary consent, and the admissibility of the recording; if admitted, it often pushes toward a plea or settlement to avoid trial risk.
Joseph Duggar Arrest: Reality Star’s Dark History Repeated
Q: But if you were looking at this case with a client who faces charges in two states at the same time, how would you approach something like this?
You would tackle each jurisdiction separately, first addressing Florida's serious charges while coordinate with Arkansas; the two cases are largely independent, and a strategy would involve handling extradition, potential plea discussions, and evidentiary motions specific to each state's rules.
