  • Jurassic Podcast!

For me this is the best horse racing podcast because the host and guests aren’t SO tied into the industry that they’re terrified to say anything negative or controversial. Emmet will regularly flirt with the inappropriate and is prepared to run his mind on subjects that others avoid. Great listening. Also no other podcast does the host do impressions of the trainers. 🤣

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Debrief: Albert Einstein Beaten, Graffard's New Star? Calandagan and Ombudsman Shine in Dubai
Q: What are the likely campaigns for Calandagan this year?
The discussion suggested a flexible campaign, with potential targets including the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, King George, and possibly the Champion Stakes or Japan Cup, depending on pacing and where the horse travels best, rather than committing him to a single path early in the season.
Lincoln Preview: Cieren Fallon Breaks Down Eternal Force, Montassib & His Full Book of Doncaster Rides
Q: Do you feel rain would help Eternal Force in the Lincoln?
Rain would likely be beneficial by softening the ground, increasing stamina demands and potentially reducing the speed advantage of slick-late sprint types, which could level the playing field and help Eternal Force if the conditions favour his stamina and stamina-based pedigree.
Lincoln Preview: Cieren Fallon Breaks Down Eternal Force, Montassib & His Full Book of Doncaster Rides
Q: But what does it take to win the Lincoln from a jockey and horse perspective?
It requires exceptional preparation by the trainer to get the horse tournament-ready without overdoing it, plus intelligent handling in a marathon of a race where ground, pace, and the draw all interact, so the jockey needs to be flexible and calm under pressure to seize favorable splits and finish strongly.
Aidan Coleman's Guide to the Novice Chasers and Hurdlers for Cheltenham | 16/1 Bet
Q: If there was any horse you could ride in the Arkle, who would it be and why?
Aidan Coleman suggests Lulumba and Kopek Des Bordes as top considerations but highlights Kopek Des Bordes' inexperience; Romeo Coolio is mentioned as a potential alternative if he competes, with other participants weighing the balance of experience vs. raw talent.
Weekend Betting Guide: Newbury & Warwick Tips | Kingmaker, Denman & Game Spirit NAPs and Best Bets
Q: Andy, what are your thoughts on the Kingmaker Novice's Chase?
Steel Ally was super impressive, and I would probably side with him here.
