  • Brilliant

This is the most varied and interesting Racing show by far

Had a proper laugh at the Evan Williams commentary

He’s clearly under the impression that he’s dealing with the stewards at Ludlow rather than the law.

    Drain 😀

  • MarkyMark

This is my goto show. As a racing enthusiast I listen religiously. Nick is a great servant to the sport. Just listening to today’s broadcast from Melbourne. The quote that jumped out to me was the ‘wagering and racing go hand-in-hand. Wagering funds racing and we’re in a good place for the sport’. The Australians (and the French) have a pair mutual betting system that funds prize money and the sport in general.

My only criticism of Nick and the other racing podcasts is that they are beholden to... more

  • Sales

Whilst I really like this podcast I’m bored of hearing how well the sales are going. The cost of living crisis in this country is real and the last thing I need is hearing how much money the billionaires have and are spending. Can’t wait until you talk about actual racing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 1546 - A Royal Winner?
Q: What is the expectation for Bo Echo in the St James's Palace Stakes?
The hosts expect Bo Echo to deliver a formidable performance, potentially signaling him as the best three-year-old in a decade if he confirms the step forward from the Guineas and shows similar or better early speed and finish.
Ep 1544 - Lilt's Diane tilt & Ascot water
Q: What's the plan for Lake Forest and the other Saturday targets?
The plan is to run Lake Forest in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and consider other races like the Wokingham depending on entries, with a focus on keeping an eye on form and distance suitability.
Ep 1544 - Lilt's Diane tilt & Ascot water
Q: What are you hoping for conditions-wise for Lilt at the Prix de Diane?
Haggas says the ground should be quick but not bone-dry hard, and that a mile and a quarter should suit her best as she moves up in distance, with a caution to avoid truly firm ground.
Ep 1538 - Reaction from the Derby draw
Q: How do you think the Derby draw will affect racing strategy on Saturday?
Most guests suggest that the draw matters less than how the track plays on the day and how horses handle the test of stamina; many highlight that mid-pack or wider draws can still win if the pace is strong and the ground remains favorable.
Ep 1520 - Where did Chester go wrong?
Q: What happened to the track yesterday and what was done to address it?
The clerk of the course explained they watered and rolled the track, moved the rail to create fresh ground, and conducted a post-race assessment with jockeys and officials before deciding to proceed, though it remained contentious.
