  • Very badly edited

Updating my review to one star because each episode has some very bad editing, making it very difficult to follow. Sometimes there are very long gaps of silence, other times jumbled and confused audio.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ed Kashi: A Life in Photojournalism
Q: Who is Ed Kashi according to Ed Kashi?
He sees himself as a photographer and storyteller who often feels like an outsider; his life is guided by empathy, a commitment to social documentary work, and a desire to connect with people through photography.
Richard Sandler: What Street Photography Has Lost Today
Q: Why did you move from stills to video, and how did that shift affect your approach?
Video/film allowed me to work with time, motion, and sound, enabling conversations and longer investigations of scenes; it complemented stills and eventually led to a broader practice in filmmaking.
Richard Sandler: What Street Photography Has Lost Today
Q: What drew you to New York as a photographer, and how did the city shape your eye?
New York offered immense opportunities and danger in the late 70s and 80s; it taught me to balance risk, speed, and a keen eye for social realities, shaping my emphasis on street truth and social commentary.
Richard Sandler: What Street Photography Has Lost Today
Q: Who is Richard Sandler, according to Richard Sandler?
He identifies as a photographer, a saxophonist, and a filmmaker, wearing all three hats and integrating them into a cohesive practice.
Paulie B: More empathy, more time. Less gear, less POV
Q: How has Instagram and other platforms changed what photographers look for while out on the street?
Platforms influence some photographers to chase a recognizable style or momentary attention, but many continue to follow personal inspiration and use social media as a catalyst for learning rather than a sole driver of work.
