  • I want to love it…

I’ve followed Chris and Jordan for years and have appreciated their perspectives, but as hard as I try I just can’t stand Jaron and it ruins the listen for me. Every couple months I try to make it through an episode and give up usually before the halfway point. Most people seem to like it though, so that’s just me I guess. It ain’t even gotta be deep, I guess. I do wish the guys had taken Fro’s advice though, they keep building up platforms they don’t own for the good of other people, and eventu... more

  • Best BBQ Sauce, and best Photo podcast

The Petapixel BBQ Sauce is the best BBQ sauce I’ve ever tried. Baby back ribs, steak, even chicken. For the vegetarians, the BBQ Sauce is amazing on tofu.

Pork tenderloin, marinated with Petapixel BBQ Sauce for 24 hours, then grilled with a pinch of garlic. BBQ sauce, BBQ sauce, and also BBQ sauce.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Apple May Have Spoiled a Secret Nikon Camera
Q: What does the new Pixel G6 processor bring to on-device AI processing for photos and video?
It enables faster model loading and inference on-device, allowing features like Night Sight and Creator Suite to run without cloud processing, improving speed and reliability while giving users more real-time control over AI-assisted edits.
VSCO's Fiasco, Sony's New Sensor, and Fujifilm's Fall Plans
Q: How does LOFIC technology change dynamic range, and what are its practical implications for photographers and videographers?
LOFIC captures extra highlight information in a separate receptacle, potentially improving highlight recovery and making metering more forgiving, though the practical benefits will depend on implementation, sensor size, and whether the extra processing is accessible in real-world workflows.
Capture One and Leica Are for Sale? Plus GoPro Is on 'The Brink'
Q: What is your take on GoPro's new mission-series cameras and the sustainability of the launch strategy?
The crew acknowledges the hardware's potential, especially the new sensor and processor, but criticizes the rollout as bungled with uneven embargo dates and limited impact from the initial launch, suggesting GoPro needs clearer communication and a tighter ecosystem to recover profitability.
How to 🛟SAVE🛟 Micro Four Thirds w/ Emily Lowery!
Q: Hi Jaron, which camera should I buy for photo now? Chris, what would you recommend for a travel setup?
The panel leans toward a balance of compact, premium bodies with good handling, fast and reliable autofocus, and a strong lens ecosystem; OM System's best-in-class computational features and tactile ergonomics are highlighted as a likely sweet spot for Micro Four Thirds lovers, while a practical choice for many would be to invest in a robust Micro Four Thirds kit with reliable lenses and existing familiarity rather than chasing the latest body.
Are Lenses ACTUALLY More Expensive Now?
Q: Should I step up to the big boy formats or stick with what I know and what works?
It's really just compatibility that's the reason to record those big ProRes files. The reason to record raw is exclusively, do you want full control over color, the white balance, the tint, all of that, noise reduction and lens corrections.
