  • Still the best NBA podcast

Updating the below from a few years ago with the move to Yahoo: still excellent, though a few years later it’s clear that a lot of podcasting is about chemistry, and the married vibes make it a little more difficult to listen to, particularly - hate to say it - Steve is just leaning too hard into the annoyance with Nekias’ angles in advance, which stops him from getting into the zone that we came to the podcast for which is his unique insight as a coach and analyst. Don’t become an old man too e... more

  • Spot on!!

This is a show of SUBSTANCE! I have grown too impatient with podcasts that turn everything into jokes with no relevant facts and then there are those that make obvious predictions only to revise them later if any minor change occurs. These guys give detailed, descriptive, step-step descriptions of plays and defensive match ups and rotations, etc. Listening to this show is both enjoyable and educational!! Thanks!

  • Pretty good I guess

Often enjoyable show. Often a fun rapport. But also, unfortunately, Steve Jones Jr often sounds like he is just straight up annoyed to even be doing this podcast at all and putting up with Nekias’ often stat-based and “hipster” basketball takes. They will also often reference things from twitter or other insider basketball things and just expect the listener to understand or be caught up without providing any context. I’ve often appreciated this show but after hearing Steve’s bad mood and seeing... more

Q: What have you learned about basketball and yourselves while working on this podcast together?
Nekias notes that being alongside someone smarter provides a constant learning incentive, improving defense rotaries and overall analytical depth, while Steve emphasizes authenticity, vulnerability, and staying curious as essential to growth.
2026 NBA Draft preview + WNBA weekend takeaways
Q: Which top-tier prospects stand out, and how are you ranking them?
The top three (Boozer, Peterson, Dybantsa) are viewed as a tier with very close value; teams' archetype preferences and team needs will largely influence which of the three is favored in any given draft.
2026 NBA Draft preview + WNBA weekend takeaways
Q: With the Giannis situation, how might trades affect mock drafts and big boards?
Trade rumors can introduce uncertainty, leading teams to hedge by considering multiple archetypes and being prepared for last-minute pivots, especially around top picks where positional needs and fit are critical.
All-Defense check-in, Jalen Duren's rise + Breanna Stewart joins the show
Q: What makes Jalen Duren one of the top centers in the East, and who would you put with him in a top-five center group?
Duren is in the top tier along with Bam Adebayo, Carl Anthony Towns, and Bam and Jokic, with Duren's rim protection, finishing, and switch capability keeping him in the debate; Bam's perimeter switching and overall defense balance the group.
Unrivaled players & awards talk with Myles Ehrlich
Q: How did you evaluate the All-Unrivaled First/Second Teams and who were the hardest cuts?
We agreed the top four—Chelsea Gray, Paige Beckers, Kelsey Plum, and Aliyah Boston—were locks, then faced tough cuts among players like Marina Mabry, Alyah Edwards, and Brittany Sykes as we tried to balance two teams while rewarding two-way impact, shooting, and how players fit within the Unrivaled format.
