Awesome basketball analysis
Updating the below from a few years ago with the move to Yahoo: still excellent, though a few years later it’s clear that a lot of podcasting is about chemistry, and the married vibes make it a little more difficult to listen to, particularly - hate to say it - Steve is just leaning too hard into the annoyance with Nekias’ angles in advance, which stops him from getting into the zone that we came to the podcast for which is his unique insight as a coach and analyst. This is a show of SUBSTANCE! I have grown too impatient with podcasts that turn everything into jokes with no relevant facts and then there are those that make obvious predictions only to revise them later if any minor change occurs. These guys give detailed, descriptive, step-step descriptions of plays and defensive match ups and rotations, etc. Listening to this show is both enjoyable and educational!! Thanks!
Often enjoyable show. Often a fun rapport. But also, unfortunately, Steve Jones Jr often sounds like he is just straight up annoyed to even be doing this podcast at all and putting up with Nekias’ often stat-based and “hipster” basketball takes. Two hosts deliver in-depth, analytical basketball conversations with a heavy emphasis on X's-and-O's breakdowns of NBA teams and players, plus regular WNBA coverage. They fuse practical game observations with roster moves, coaching decisions, and tactical nuances, creating a voice that appeals to coaching-minded fans, executives, and serious basketball followers who crave actionable insight beyond headlines. Noteworthy are their deep tactical debates, willingness to dissect lineups and defensive schemes, and recurring WNBA seasons discussions that broaden the scope beyond the NBA alone. The format tends to be data- and film-driven, with strong chemistry between the hosts driving a clear, thought-provoking point of view that resonates with l... more
