Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

J. Josh Smith: The Man for the Day: Answering The Call To Godly Manhood (Best of from 01/20/26)
Q: What does biblical manhood look like in practical terms for everyday life?
Smith explains that biblical manhood centers on self-sacrificial, other-centered character that is gentle yet strong, lived out through daily disciplines, being under authority, and pursuing growth today rather than dreaming about distant goals. He emphasizes simplicity, direction, and health of the soul as the core starting points.
Kari Kampakis: Is Your Daughter Ready? 10 Ways to Empower Your Girl for an Age of New Challenges (Best Of From 11/17/25)
Q: Can you give us an overview of the 25 talking points every girl should hear before leaving home?
Kari Kampakis outlines practical, age-appropriate guidelines covering topics like choosing not to engage in unsafe behavior, setting boundaries, seeking help, supporting friends who are in risky situations, and the importance of having a wingman—someone who looks out for you—so that girls can make wise, faith-informed decisions.
Jen Oshman: Very Good Bible Study: Walking women through the whole story of Scripture
Q: How do you initiate conversations about identity with your daughters, given the fierce marketing of identity today?
Parenting involves curiosity—asking questions, listening, and countering cultural messages with gospel truth. Moms should reinforce that true identity is secure in Christ, not in achievements, and model gospel-centered security in daily life to shape how children see themselves and their worth.
Jen Oshman: Very Good Bible Study: Walking women through the whole story of Scripture
Q: What did you learn about women in the law? What is culture getting wrong about that today, and what can encourage us for today?
The law reflects a cultural context that valued communal and patricentric structures; when interpreted with those lenses, it can mislead modern readers. Properly understood, laws surrounding women, such as those about menstruation, reveal God's protection and care for women, ensuring rest and provision during vulnerable periods.
Jen Oshman: Very Good Bible Study: Walking women through the whole story of Scripture
Q: But this Bible study goes all the way from Genesis to Revelation. Walk us through that and tell us how you see God's design for women from the beginning all the way to the end of the Bible.
Jen describes a throughline from creation, through the law and prophetic books, to Jesus and Revelation, emphasizing that women are essential partners in God's story. She highlights Eve's foundational role, the protective care in Old Testament laws, Jesus' inclusive ministry with women, and the ultimate redemption revealed in Revelation, all illustrating a consistent design that elevates women as integral to God's plan.
