  • Simply Awesome

Great and varied guests with great questions and input from Dr. DeLuke. This is a mind expanding and paradigm busting exposure to the broader scope of orthodontic treatment and healthcare in general with an emphasis on airway but that’s related to so many other issues that are also explored. The podcasts are immensely valuable and the return on time invested is well worth it. Highly recommended.

  • DOC Podcast - great show!

As a PGY1 orthodontic resident, the DOC podcast has been a great and entertaining avenue to learn about Phase 1 treatment and airway. It’s opened my mind to the different services orthodontists could be providing patients.

It’s clear that Dr. DeLuke puts his heart and soul into every one of his episodes. He’s incredibly well-versed in research to support his ideas, yet remains open-minded when new information is brought to the table. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Oral-Systemic Connection: Why Dentists Need to Look Beyond the Mouth (w/Dr. Witt Wilkerson) [Ep.164]
Q: How do you implement this in a typical practice?
Begin with comprehensive exams, add salivary testing for baseline health markers, use high-resolution pulse oximetry for sleep assessment, and build a multidisciplinary workflow with medical colleagues; then educate the team to manage patients with a health-first approach rather than just treating teeth.
The Oral-Systemic Connection: Why Dentists Need to Look Beyond the Mouth (w/Dr. Witt Wilkerson) [Ep.164]
Q: What sparked the shift toward airway-focused dentistry and integrative care?
A Baylor Medical School sleep apnea study and subsequent EMG findings revealed that bruxism and parafunctional activity were often responses to airway compromise during sleep, reframing the problem from a purely “bad habit” to a protective physiology.
Airway, Wellness, and the Patient-Centered Private Practice (w/Dr. Trevor Nichols) [Ep.161]
Q: What keeps you motivated to push for early airway-focused treatment?
Seeing real, life-changing outcomes for kids—improved sleep, breathing, and growth—drives me. It's about diagnosing the whole patient, not just teeth, and helping families with long-term health and quality of life.
What's Causing the Chronic Disease Epidemic in Our Children? (w/Beth Lambert)
Q: What is the 'total load' theory, and why is it important for understanding pediatric chronic illness?
The total load theory posits that thousands of interacting health stressors—nutrition, environment, microbiome, sleep, toxins—combine to influence health outcomes, making single-factor explanations insufficient; management should focus on reducing overall stressors rather than chasing a single culprit.
What's Causing the Chronic Disease Epidemic in Our Children? (w/Beth Lambert)
Q: How did your personal experience as a parent shape your career focus and your advocacy work?
Beth describes initiating a shift from conventional medicine toward root-cause, integrative approaches after seeing her child's gut and developmental symptoms and recognizing a lack of attention to underlying causes within standard care.
