  • Awesome resource!!

Great podcast! I appreciate the insight, transparency, and broad subject matter of this podcast. I’ve learned just as much from this podcast (if not more) as I have from my ortho “buddies” are often willing to disclose.

  • Mostly good

Most episodes are good, sometimes (more recently) it slips to marketing pitch for a product, and I don’t think it’s that settle when host is an investor in that product.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How AI and Robotics Will Transform Orthodontics w/Dr. Mehdi Peikar
Q: What makes Celebrace different from other digital bracket systems?
Celebrace offers a fully 3D-printed bracket with 100 percent customization to the patient's prescription, including base geometry and torque, enabling a more precise and efficient finish. This stands in contrast to systems that digitize stock brackets and apply generic prescriptions, whereas Celebrace aims to align digital design directly with the clinician's treatment plan.
How AI and Robotics Will Transform Orthodontics w/Dr. Mehdi Peikar
Q: Where do you see quantum computing and AI intersecting with day-to-day orthodontics in the near term?
AI is already impacting day-to-day practice, especially in treatment planning and imaging, with quantum computing expected to enhance simulations and optimization in the longer term. In the near term, practical gains come from AI-driven analytics, CBCT-assisted planning, and digital fabrication; later, quantum computing could dramatically accelerate processing of large datasets and enable highly personalized, data-rich treatment planning.
How AI and Robotics Will Transform Orthodontics w/Dr. Mehdi Peikar
Q: Can you explain to us in a minute or less the essence of quantum mechanics and its relevance to your work?
Quantum mechanics is the study of how the universe operates at the smallest scales, but the broader takeaway is that even seemingly simple processes can have multiple pathways and outcomes. This mindset underpins how complex systems, including orthodontic treatments and AI models, can be understood as highly layered and probabilistic, which informs our approach to modeling and optimization in dental technologies.
The Truth About “Starting Over” in Your Career w/Dr. John Graham
Q: What was the Jamaica psilocybin retreat experience like and how did it influence your view on life and medicine?
He shares the structure of the retreat, the dosing days, the therapeutic aims, and the profound changes in perspective, including enhanced connectedness and a deeper sense of compassion, while noting the importance of careful research and caution.
The Truth About “Starting Over” in Your Career w/Dr. John Graham
Q: Why did you decide to pursue a career change and join Smile Doctors/DSO, and how has that affected your independence and leadership?
He discusses the rationale for joining a large group to address financial and leadership realities, how it allowed him to focus more on patient care and leadership, and how independence can be preserved within a DS/O framework.
