  • No (wo)man is an island

Been listening since 2015. Finally switched to apple podcast and will finally leave a review. Love hearing what other dentist are struggling with and what other guys are doing. I will say I’ve been a faculty club member at spear since I graduated in ‘14 and I’ve picked up more “ snigglets” from listening to the hacks. Can we have the Mead academy for normal dentist? Thanks Alan and all the very dental crew!

P.s. clinical hacks is is a must for any listener.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Very Clinical: Walking Away to Win with Dr. Randy Houska
Q: Kevin, do you bust that myth with people, or do you just let it roll?
Kevin asserts he educates patients and challenges the myth directly, sometimes pushing back to ensure patients understand the real causes behind dental changes during pregnancy.
Very Clinical: Walking Away to Win with Dr. Randy Houska
Q: So we are busting myths and doing pro tips here today. What are you bringing into the table here today?
Dr. Houska introduces a myth about calcium being sucked from teeth by babies and explains it's a myth; he emphasizes that morning sickness and poor self-care are more plausible culprits and that patient education should focus on these factors rather than blaming pregnancy.
Very Dental: The Truth About "Printed Ceramics" & AI Design with Damien Bonner
Q: What should a practice consider when choosing between an AI-driven design workflow versus traditional design software like Exocad?
Consider total cost of ownership, ease of use, margins for design flexibility, and whether the AI design can consistently meet the practice's required margins and contours. AI design offers speed and accessible onboarding with credits, while traditional software may provide deeper, long-term control and licensing structures; many offices will use a hybrid approach, starting with AI for straightforward cases and moving to more advanced tools as needed.
Group Function: From Hours to Minutes with Erez Druk and Dr. Giles Damron
Q: So tell me, how in the world did you get into this business?
Erez describes pivoting from a startup background into healthcare tech, inspired by the potential to improve clinicians' daily work and driven by feedback from a wide range of specialties; the company started with Freed AI and expanded to serve about 30,000 clinicians across over 100 specialties.
Very Dental: The Rise of the Dental Marketplace with Susan Cahill
Q: How does Net32 ensure the quality and reliability of vendors?
They use vendor scorecards and metrics across sourcing, price transparency, fulfillment, reliability, and product quality, feeding this data into the platform's algorithms and sharing feedback with vendors to continuously improve the customer experience.
