  • Less stupid highland park stuff pls

I’m a daily listener…but lately there’s been so much random banal “news” about Highland Park? LITERALLY no one cares…except for highland park folks. Maybe they should have their own podcast about their 18 million dollar houses. The rest of us want to listen to the news.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cross Examining History with Peter Onuf and Frank Cogliano
Q: But let's start the program with the obvious question, and that is, where'd you guys come up with the title? Thomas Jefferson Survives. Give us your perspective on how that title was chosen.
The title plays on John Adams' rumored last words and in a playful, but meaningful way, signals how Jefferson's ongoing relevance persists despite the flaws and contradictions in his life and era.
SportsDay Rangers, Episode 46: Chris Young, State of the Rangers
Q: What areas do you see as the priorities if you decide to add at the deadline?
The priorities are a right-handed leverage arm for the bullpen and a right-handed bat that can play center field and help with a platoon, taking some pressure off Evan Carter and stabilizing the lineup.
SportsDay Rangers, Episode 46: Chris Young, State of the Rangers
Q: Can you talk about the balance between buying and selling as we approach the deadline, and what indicators you're watching to decide which path to take?
We'll need to see how the next few weeks go, especially with health and performance of our rotation and bullpen. We may not know our exact stance until August 2, so we must prepare for multiple scenarios and let the data guide whether we add or reposition.
SportsDay Rangers, Episode 46: Chris Young, State of the Rangers
Q: So Chris, thanks for joining us today. With 90 games in, what stands out most to you about where the Rangers are as we head toward the break?
The team has dealt with injuries but has shown resilience, depth, and the ability to win without their two best players. The key is getting Seager and Langford back healthy and continuing to play with grit; that combination could propel us into a strong second half and a real playoff push.
Cross Examining History with Matthew Pinsker
Q: What was the purpose behind Lincoln's Cooper Union address, and how did it influence his path to the presidency?
The host explains that Cooper Union served as a turning point by elevating Lincoln as a national leader and organizer, signaling that leadership of the Republican Party, rather than mere presidential aspirations, would be his primary objective.
