  • Less stupid highland park stuff pls

I’m a daily listener…but lately there’s been so much random banal “news” about Highland Park? LITERALLY no one cares…except for highland park folks. Maybe they should have their own podcast about their 18 million dollar houses. The rest of us want to listen to the news.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Cross Examining History with Matthew Pinsker
Q: What was the purpose behind Lincoln's Cooper Union address, and how did it influence his path to the presidency?
The host explains that Cooper Union served as a turning point by elevating Lincoln as a national leader and organizer, signaling that leadership of the Republican Party, rather than mere presidential aspirations, would be his primary objective.
SportsDay Rangers Podcast Episode 42: The one with David Murphy
Q: How should Evan Carter approach facing left-handed pitchers and what adjustments could help him contribute more offensively?
Murphy noted that Carter's elite defense and left-handed bat present a potential for him to become a more well-rounded offensive player, recommending continued focus on plate discipline, leveraging speed on the basepaths, and exploiting favorable matchups to maximize opportunities.
SportsDay Rangers Podcast Episode 42: The one with David Murphy
Q: What do you see in the 2026 Rangers after almost 70 games, and where do they stand in relation to a championship run?
Murphy suggested that while there's no clear single “backbone” beyond pitching, the depth and versatility in the lineup give them a reasonable shot, though they'll need consistent production from the bottom of the order and strong starting pitching to reach the postseason.
Dan Hunt on Intersections Podcast
Q: Dan, what was it like growing up in that family with all these iconic franchises and how did that shape your leadership of FC Dallas?
He reflects on a childhood shaped by close family involvement in sports and business, observing his father's ability to connect with people, manage details meticulously, and build lasting relationships with communities and city leaders, which influenced his own approach at FC Dallas.
Dan Hunt on Intersections Podcast
Q: So Dan, give us two hallmarks of your dad's leadership and what he taught you that still live on today and how you lead, parent, et cetera.
Dan describes humility and persistence as core hallmarks, stressing that success is bigger than one person and that hard work, listening, and thoughtful decision-making are essential to leadership and building lasting institutions like FC Dallas and MLS.
