  • LOVE!!

Callie has such a grounded (no pun intended) approach to gardening. Her podcast is inspiring and comforting, informative and anecdotal, all wrapped up with. Her mellow voice. Dallas gardening is insanity, so I’m praying she keeps the intel and podcasts coming.

  • Welcoming approach to gardening and so informative

I love Callie’s approach to gardening and her insights are so valuable. I tell everyone who asks to start with Callie’s resources. I’ve taken her classes, use her planners, and was thrilled to find her podcast! Hoping she’ll do a Substack (or similar) for those of us who are addicted to her posts but trying to kick an Instagram habit!

  • Great info for southern gardeners

I have been gardening a long time and have learned some new things from Callie, even though I do not garden in Texas. I Garden in Georgia zone 8B and I deal with many of the same issues as folks in Texas such as severe summer heat, humidity, etc..

Lots of good solid information without a lot of fluff and I appreciate that.

  • School is in session!

I have done many for Callie's classes and I still had lots to learn! Her classes have expanded my gardening world and helped me settled in as a Texas transplant. Highly recommend!

Why Did My Tomato Seedlings Fail? Troubleshooting Weak Starts
Q: What might be the reasons why certain varieties of seedlings like Brandywine and German Johnson did not thrive?
Possible reasons include the genetic variability of heirlooms and their adaptability to indoor environments, inconsistencies in care, and specific growing conditions.
Unlocking the Power of Liquid Fertilizers
Q: How does one apply liquid fertilizer to a plant?
You should read the instructions on the fertilizer packaging for the optimal dosing and dilution, usually mixing a specific amount with water before applying it at the base of the plant.
Morgan Asks About Pruning
Q: Can I cut back Texas Rock Rose and Salvia right now?
No, it's not advisable to cut them back now as it promotes unnecessary new growth before winter. It's better to do a hard cutback in July instead.
Angela Asks About Cut Flowers for Part Shade
Q: What flower, cut flowers, would you suggest that would do well enough in partial shade?
Callie suggests several perennials and annuals that can thrive in partial shade such as oak leaf hydrangea, astilbe, and dianthus, while also emphasizing the importance of experimentation in finding suitable plants.
Building A New Garden
Q: Do you have any advice for beginners on how to approach this transition?
Begin with selecting the right location for ample sunlight and water access, and consider whether to use in-ground or raised beds.
