Good reviews of the episodes. A bit more serious than some other podcasts but none the worse for that. I’m sure that American listeners will like the Scottish accents. Just one thing though, there is never any discussion of the cars; these were often a major feature of Columbo and a big draw for the autosexuals among us.
I just started watching pokerface for the first time about a week ago, so for you guys to be covering it now is quite serendipitous! I love y’all’s voices, takes me back to my semester abroad in Scotland 💙 and thanks for catching some cool shots and references that I would’ve otherwise missed!
This podcast is a refreshing take on an American classic by two gents from the UK. The choice of having a seasoned veteran of the show present the material to a newbie ads an extra layer of context, especially for those of us who are fans of the show and have also had the experience of sharing one of the best dramas on television with others who had yet to discover the excellence that is Columbo. There is the added nuance in this podcast of having gents from the UK react to 1970s Los Angeles and... more
The title says it all - I’ve been listening for years and only now got around to writing a review (..sorry lads!). I go back to this podcast all the time and I regularly listen on commutes and never get tired of it. It is absolutely one of my favourites and Gerry and Iain are my favourite people to listen to. Give all their other podcasts a listen as well, they’re fantastic (special shout out to Fascinating as a huge Star Trek fan).
Every other columbo podcast is unlistenable. In this and all the other shows they review, these guys do it right. Efficiently go scene by scene through the show, play clips, and engage in thoughtful fun analysis, and get out. No wasting 10 mins at the top talking about their day, no pointless digressions, no sweaty comedy. Just columbo.
