Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Journey from Insecurity to Freedom with Paul Burns
Q: Paul, what's your last word on self-differentiation or this idea of being substantial?
It takes courage, and that courage comes from God; be willing to be vulnerable, find someone to build a relationship with, and allow yourself to grow through that shared trust.
From Limiting Beliefs to New Identity: Coaching Through Story with Motoki Asai
Q: Can you give us an example of how someone shifted their identity through narrative coaching and what that looked like in practice?
The guest describes a client who initially sees herself as underperforming and not fitting in, but through narrative coaching, she gains external validation and inner empowerment. The coach helps her reframe the narrative, recognize her own capabilities, and participate more actively in meetings, which shifts her identity and workplace performance.
Walking the Camino Pilgrimage, Purpose, and Transformation With Rey Spadoni
Q: How did the Camino influence your understanding of coaching versus consulting?
It highlighted the distinction between offering solutions as a consultant and guiding clients to their own insights as a coach, reinforcing the value of trust in the process.
Walking the Camino Pilgrimage, Purpose, and Transformation With Rey Spadoni
Q: What did Cam training change for you when you lead the Camino group?
It reframed leadership from directing to accompanying, with a focus on listening and guiding the group through their own experiences rather than prescribing solutions.
How Writing Clarifies Your Thinking (and Grows Your Influence) with Laura Stephens-Reed
Q: Do you struggle to find a premise or do you know it as soon as you sit down to write?
Laura usually knows the premise when she sits down but also develops topics by extracting themes from coaching conversations and refining them into multi-part pieces when needed.
