  • Harry and Adam

Great combination . Harry’s passion and humour shine through , whilst Adam is terrific on the tactical side of things .

Both very articulate , and worth listening to on their own podcasts , but a bit of a dream team when put together

  • Saying Reactionary when you mean Reactive

Love the show, love Harry .

However , my enjoyment is being tempered by Harry’s repeated use of the word ‘reactionary’, when he really means ‘reactive ‘

A reactionary is “ a person who wants to reverse political changes and seeks to restore society to a state believed to have existed before”

So you’d perhaps be reactionary if you wanted George Graham to be the next Manager, and revert to a 4-4-2.

To be reactive in the context you’re describing is similar to having a ‘knee jerk reaction’ to ev... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

'This book is a MUST read!' - Killing Maradona with David Arrowsmith
Q: How did you manage the balance between celebrating football achievements and revealing darker forces at play behind the scenes?
He emphasizes presenting the full context: the glory of the game alongside the dark forces—junta-era politics, cartels, and corruption—that intersect with football, shaping outcomes and personal destinies.
'This book is a MUST read!' - Killing Maradona with David Arrowsmith
Q: What drew you to South American football culture, and how does that influence your storytelling approach for the Maradona book?
David describes growing up with a strong Colombian heritage and a passion for crime storytelling, which shapes his storyteller role rather than that of a traditional journalist, allowing him to weave football history with broader crime and political narratives.
'This book is a MUST read!' - Killing Maradona with David Arrowsmith
Q: I guess my question, David, is how do you go about sourcing that kind of stuff? Not to give away your secrets, but what was the process like in terms of digging deep and finding these anecdotes?
David explains that sourcing involves a fishing-the-bottom-of-the-rabbit-hole approach: starting from small nuggets in autobiographies or documentaries, contacting many people, and using archival resources from multiple languages and archives, including clubs' archives and even specialized government files, to flesh out details while navigating access and redactions.
Arsenal to face PSG in the final, celebration police, Lewis-Skelly & more with Laura Kirk-Francis
Q: I've got to ask you about Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield. Has he been reborn at Arsenal?
Laura -> Yes, he's shown a new level of comfort and impact in midfield, with a strong relationship to Arteta and potential for further growth, though there are still games ahead to truly confirm his long-term role.
Arsenal 4-0 Wigan: Saka through the middle, Eze much improved & Norgaard ready?
Q: Have I undervalued Christian Norgaard and the impact that he could potentially have on this Arsenal team?
The episode reflects on Norgaard's abilities and how he could step up given current injuries, suggesting that he has made a case for more playtime.
