Reviews

4.7 out of 5 stars from 1.7k ratings
  • Rough editing

The content itself in this podcast is great. One complaint is having to skip 2-3 mins in to actually start hearing the podcast. Another gripe is that whoever places the ads into the pod just drops them in the middle of dialogue and it ruins the flow of the podcast. Updating and removing a star because they STILL haven’t made adjustments. Its a shame

Too bad you have to advertise for a political agenda fundraiser. Drop your virtue signaling woke advertising and this is a top flight podcast. Like most fans we prefer your sports commentary, not your political opinions.

  • Pretty good

I enjoy Chris and Julian’s insights into the NHL and hockey in general, and their chemistry is good, almost bordering on homoerotic at times (Julian to Chris and not the other way around). I also appreciate that this newest season is louder and that Chris (so far) has been using a broadcast quality microphone on each episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vegas In Hot Water & Who Will Leafs/Oilers Hire? | The Chris Johnston Show
Q: From Stino, roughly, how many contacts does CJ have saved in his phone?
Around 3,000 contacts currently, not actively deleting numbers, so it will continue to grow.
Vegas In Hot Water & Who Will Leafs/Oilers Hire? | The Chris Johnston Show
Q: From Sam, from zero to 100 percent, how sure are you that Max Domey is back next year with The Leafs?
Ninety-five percent. He's demonstrated strong fit with the organization, has a contract, and there's significant positive history and personal ties; I'd be stunned if he's moved.
First Overall Is No Brainer + What Does It Mean For Matthews? | The Chris Johnston Show
Q: If you were a GM, would you consider trading the first overall pick in any draft?
Probably not; the first overall pick is highly valuable because it controls a young player's early development, and in a cap world it's often more worth keeping than trading for an established star.
Could Be An Interesting Offseason In Ottawa | The Chris Johnston Show
Q: What did you make of the Ottawa Senators' playoff outcome and what should be Ottawa's offseason focus?
The Senators faced a tough postseason showing against a strong Hurricanes lineup; the focus should be on evaluating core pieces, considering a roster overhaul where needed, and potentially leveraging draft capital to add depth and balance, while managing expectations for leadership from their top players.
Turmoil in Edmonton? | The Chris Johnston Show
Q: Is Connor McDavid calling out his coach or expressing a broader frustration with the Oilers' trajectory?
The hosts suggest it's more about frustration with where the team is currently rather than a direct indictment of the coach, highlighting the complexity of interpreting post-game remarks and the context around leadership, coaching, and team performance.
