  • Five Star Niche Show | Reliable and Credible

Victoria…what a way to get the message out on chemicals. We live in such challenging times, and it’s nice to get a SME’s take on those little situation we never think about or we all take for granted. Much better than listening to the news, not knowing who to trust. I’m interesting in learning more! ~ Amy

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

China’s Opportunistic Moves and Changing Dynamics in Asia’s Chemical Industry with John Richardson - Ep. 270
Q: What has the first half of the year looked like in your view, especially regarding China?
China has augmented its export position dramatically, moving into net-export territory for olefins and expanding exports of polyethylene and other derivatives, aided by stockpiles built during shortages and ongoing feedstock access. This has shifted regional dynamics and pressured Northeast Asian producers.
China’s Opportunistic Moves and Changing Dynamics in Asia’s Chemical Industry with John Richardson - Ep. 270
Q: Give us a quick intro to you.
I've been with ICIS for 29 years, started as a journalist, became a consultant in 2006, and have watched chemicals evolve from old hard-copy publishing to a highly data-driven industry.
How Policy Impacts Competitiveness with Chris Jahn of American Chemistry Council - Ep. 261
Q: What leadership lessons have stood out during your time leading ACC, especially through the pandemic and the current policy environment?
The key lessons are staying focused on the main priorities, leveraging a strong, capable team, and having the agility to pivot as uncertainty persists. It's about prioritizing what truly moves the needle for members and being prepared to adjust course as new information emerges.
Bringing Chemical Innovation to Market with Eric Appelman of Aduro Clean Technologies - Ep. 260
Q: Tell us a little about Aduro and the technology you're bringing to market.
Aduro has a platform technology that chops large hydrocarbon molecules into smaller pieces, originally targeted at bitumen from tar sands and, since 2020, pivoted to recycle very old polymers. The approach uses a more controlled, less brutal thermal process to improve yield and product quality, enabling scalable polymer recycling alongside ongoing bitumen work.
How War with Iran Affects Chemicals | Insights from WPC and WCF 2026 - Ep. 259
Q: What's your advice to people that you work with in terms of how to navigate this stoppage and uncertainty?
Advisors recommend not assuming a quick return to normal; plan for a two-month or longer outage, potentially lock in feedstock purchases, control spot sales to protect margins, preserve longer-term relationships, and avoid unnecessary force majeure if avoidable.
