  • Great content but bad audio quality

Love the content and the expertise provided by the podcast. But for a professional podcast, the audio quality is below bad. This makes the podcast very difficult to consume. If you would up the microphones and the Audio quality just a bit, this podcast becomes much easier to listen to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 1463: Think Tank: Middle East war is worst crisis for chemicals since 1979
Q: What strategies have you used to cope with these disruptions?
We implemented vendor management inventory to stock six months of essential finished goods to buffer against interruptions, and we are looking at alternative routes through Fujairah, Sohar, Jeddah, and Dukum to maintain some level of supply until Hormuz reopens or the crisis subsides.
Episode 1463: Think Tank: Middle East war is worst crisis for chemicals since 1979
Q: Could you explain how the war has specifically affected your production and distribution so far?
The Strait of Hormuz shutdown has halted imports and exports, production has slumped, and even Saudi Arabia has slowed down due to the wider disruption, forcing plants to shut and storage costs to rise; we are operating at a fraction of capacity and relying on limited ports for any material movement.
Episode 1460: PODCAST: Mideast conflict adds pressure as China’s polyolefins producers eye Southeast Asia
Q: What is the current trend in PE markets as Southeast Asia becomes a key export destination for Chinese PE?
Supply from Chinese producers is increasing and shifting toward Southeast Asia, while buyers in the region show caution and expect limited price relief in the near term due to ongoing supply concerns and higher import costs.
Episode 1454: Think Tank: Chemical industry needs more innovation despite geopolitical turmoil
Q: How can chemical companies stay focused on innovation in a challenging macroeconomic climate?
The panelists argue for maintaining long-term R&D direction, prioritizing core innovations that reduce costs and emissions, leveraging partnerships, and sustaining open innovation to keep the industry resilient through uncertain times.
Episode 1452: Think Tank: Middle East chemicals will take 12-18 months to return to normal
Q: Paul, how long until European imports can stabilize and flow conditions normalize?
Paul argues that even with a ceasefire, full normalization could take many months to over a year due to plant restarts, grid capacity constraints, and the need to reconfigure regional trade policies and supply chains.
