  • Great Show!

This podcast does what a lot of other board game podcasts don't do. It's refreshing to hear reviews not dependent on a number rating system. It's just his view on the game or product and what he thought. He also gets great interviews with some big name people in the industry, but also small name people and people just starting out. Definitely give it a listen. He's entertaining, fun, and informative.

I'm working backwards from the current episodes but am enjoying it! Especially I like hearing the thought processes of the designers.

  • Great pod

So maybe I'm biased because I'm friends with Jack. However this is a really good podcast, it's got: great interviews, great reviews, and it's a lot of fun. I listen to a lot of podcasts, this is one of my favorites.

  • Great look at board games

Goes in depth not just with reviews, but does a great job digging into the industry itself - game creators, artists and theorists. Well worth a listen if board games are your passion. And if not, they may be after a few episodes.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Retailing games & expansions with Pat Race & Aron Suring of Alaska Robotics Gallery - TCbH Interview
Q: What role do local events and tourism play in your business model?
Local events and tourism provide a steady influx of customers; tourists buy compact games for travel, while locals sustain ongoing demand, making the shop a community hub beyond just a retail space.
Retailing games & expansions with Pat Race & Aron Suring of Alaska Robotics Gallery - TCbH Interview
Q: Are expansions generally a boon or a bane to you as a retailer?
Expansions can be both: they're valuable when they enhance a game and justify new purchases, but they can be frustrating when they fragment the experience or force separate purchases for a complete game, which can complicate shelf strategy.
Retailing games & expansions with Pat Race & Aron Suring of Alaska Robotics Gallery - TCbH Interview
Q: How easy was it to get on distribution as a small store in Juneau?
They describe a process of presenting themselves as a local game store with existing community connections, navigating standard distributor channels and evaluating interest before committing to stocking expansions, rather than relying on a traditional storefront identity alone.
Nick Murray of Bitewing Games talks Gold Country and working with Reiner Knizia - TCbH Interview
Q: What was the trajectory of Bitewing Games and kind of like your initial relationship with Reiner Knizia?
It started with a small collaboration, realizing their games would gain more trust with Knizia's involvement. They initially published a couple of casual card games before moving into more ambitious projects.
Trevor Benjamin on co-designing Moytura, Azure and collaborative game design - TCbH Interviews
Q: How do you balance historical authenticity with making a game fun?
We often have to compromise between authenticity and playability, which can lead to interesting design challenges.
