  • Minus one star because of the manosphere rubbish

News flash for the hosts: your “logic” heroes are just white supremacist eugenicists that hate women. Maybe stick to the dog stuff and drop the pseudo-intellectualism

  • One of the best dog training podcasts out there

I spent the summer and fall of 2024 listening to dog training podcasts as I drove my dogs for hours 3 days per week to attend day training school + doing their homework in the evenings. The Canine Paradigm was a staple in these long drives, and helped shaped me into the handler I am today. From developing a clear maker system to box feeding to opening my mind to balanced training, Pat and Glen gave me hope and tools to continue working on reactivity issues with my pups and to continue their trai... more

  • A Masterclass in Outdated, Dangerous Dog Training Misinformation

Listening to this podcast feels like stepping back decades into a version of dog training the field has already rejected. The advice is outdated, uninformed, and completely disconnected from modern behavioral science. No qualified, credentialed professional would take this seriously. If you care about your dog’s welfare or your own credibility, this is not a source you should be listening to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 353: Cannon Fodder for the crazies
Q: What do we do about the crazies that go after Dr. Melanie Uhde?
We support experts like Melanie and confront the criticism thoughtfully without compromising our beliefs.
Episode 350: The experience of the dog in training
Q: What's your thoughts on when it's OK to use punishment with a dog?
If I don't want to see a behaviour again, then I am punishing it. The context of punishment can vary greatly, but ultimately it should serve a purpose beyond merely causing discomfort.
Episode 347: Something is wrong in the world
Q: What would you suggest dealing with issues involving someone in the community who is causing negativity?
Focus on your own work and continue doing things well, without engaging negatively. Be a lighthouse and don't get dragged down into conflicts.
Episode 345: unconditional and present love
Q: Can you clarify the difference between unconditional love and present love?
Unconditional love is when love is given regardless of behavior, while present love is about mutual connection in the moment.
Episode 337: Are burning out and failing the same things
Q: Do you or others in your field see burnout as failure?
The only time burnout equals failure is when you allow it to completely burnout to the point where you never want to do it again.
