  • First Podcast

My therapist has been recommending podcasts to me for a while now to help cope with grief/loss and anxiety. I am in my 40s and have never listened to a podcast before. I was introduced to “Build Different” at the Ignite Men’s Conference this past weekend so I thought I’d give it a try. I have already listened to 3 episodes this week and it has been such a tremendous blessing. I am grateful for the encouragement and hope that I was able to glean from the podcasts so far.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jennie Allen: The Lie You Don’t Know You Believe, How to Find it, Fight it, & Live Free, Ep. 298
Q: What are some of the biggest lies people come to you with, and is there a lie you believed in the past that robbed you of living freely?
The three core lies stem from identity: worthlessness, helplessness, and not feeling loved. The discussion emphasizes that these are common, deeply held false narratives, and that healing comes through confession, forgiveness, and reorienting one's life around God's truth.
Kelvin Cobaris: Choosing Reconciliation Over Retaliation - Learning How to Build Bridges When Many are Burning Them, Ep. 294
Q: What role does empathy play in reconciling communities?
Empathy involves asking better questions, entering another's perspective, and prioritizing healing over winning an argument to move toward lasting reconciliation.
Kelvin Cobaris: Choosing Reconciliation Over Retaliation - Learning How to Build Bridges When Many are Burning Them, Ep. 294
Q: How do you handle leadership costs when speaking truth amid controversy?
Leaders must stay rooted in core values, accept the cost of staying true to their convictions, and continue to act with love and humility even when it means facing backlash.
Kelvin Cobaris: Choosing Reconciliation Over Retaliation - Learning How to Build Bridges When Many are Burning Them, Ep. 294
Q: What does it look like to bring unity back into culture?
Unity starts with intentional leadership that models compassion, presence, and truth-telling, followed by deliberate steps to listen, understand, and walk alongside those with differing perspectives.
Dr. Daniel Amen: Holistic Brain Health - Whole-Person Plan for Help, Hope, & Healing, Ep. 293
Q: What is the single most practical step listeners can take to begin improving brain health today?
Adopt the one-question approach: ask whether a habit or food choice is good for the brain or bad for it, and align daily decisions with that metric to build healthier routines.
