  • Great, but would like to hear the full episode!

I’m really enjoying this podcast, and think Jake’s and Andrew’s incisive analysis is spot on. I am a subscriber, but don’t do substack. I find it a bit annoying, therefore, that the podcast ends prematurely, and to hear the whole episode, I would have to pay via substack. This seems rather mean, and surely it’s more important to get the message out there, to as many people as possible, rather than making money out of it. Other podcasts issue the podcast early to their followers on substack, and ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

“You Can’t Even Debate This” UK’s Islamism Problem, with former ambassador to Saudi Sir John Jenkins
Q: How embedded is the Muslim Brotherhood in Britain, eleven years after your report, and what makes it difficult to address?
It's deeply embedded across multiple networks—economic, social, and ideological—making it hard to prescribe or ban as a single entity. Legal action can target money pathways and organizations, but the ecosystem persists through many offshoot groups and transnational connections, requiring a comprehensive approach rather than a single prohibition.
MI6 Spymaster Reveals The Shadow War in Iran
Q: What lessons from Iraq inform current thinking about Iran and potential governance after a conflict?
Lessons include avoiding the disbanding of military forces and considering a military or technocratic council to maintain order and prevent chaos or insurgent groups from filling power vacuums.
MI6 Spymaster Reveals The Shadow War in Iran
Q: How involved is MI6 in the current Iran situation compared to public perception?
The guest argues that while intelligence gathering is ongoing and prioritized, direct UK military involvement is limited, with possible behind-the-scenes coordination with allies but no public air or ground deployments.
“The West must suffer to wake up”: Ukraine war snapper on the horror he saw first hand
Q: Chris, can I conclude by asking you a personal question?
He explains his motivation rooted in family history, his desire to understand his grandfather and the calling he felt to document suffering, and the deep personal connections formed with people he meets on the ground.
CIA Iran expert: This war will change global power
Q: What is the likely endgame for Iran and the region?
The guest suggests a range of outcomes from continued conflict with evolving GCC cooperation to deeper Iran–GCC integration in defense and cyber capabilities, with the normalization of Israel likely but dependent on Iran's trajectory and regional responses.
