No partisanship, no corporate masters, just the right questions being asked and information being delivered by two bright minds, without an agenda or concern for popular but false narratives. Bravo and thanks.

  • Great, but would like to hear the full episode!

I’m really enjoying this podcast, and think Jake’s and Andrew’s incisive analysis is spot on. I am a subscriber, but don’t do substack. I find it a bit annoying, therefore, that the podcast ends prematurely, and to hear the whole episode, I would have to pay via substack. This seems rather mean, and surely it’s more important to get the message out there, to as many people as possible, rather than making money out of it. Other podcasts issue the podcast early to their followers on substack, and ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Are the wheels coming off Reform? Nadim Zahawi
Q: What is the core solution to Britain's current problems according to Zahawi?
The core solution is a reform victory led by a capable party that delivers tangible changes, including tougher enforcement against extremism, reform of immigration, and a more efficient civil service.
Muslim Expert Warns: Get Extremists Out Of Britain
Q: What is the core mechanism by which the Muslim Brotherhood allegedly advances its influence in Britain?
The guest argues it advances gradually through control of charities, mosques, schools, and student unions, building a covert influence that then translates into political clout and sanctioning of radical actions, while using liberal rights to shield criticism.
Media ‘Gazaology’ exposed: Former AP journalist Matti Friedman
Q: What role do NGOs and advocacy groups play in shaping coverage?
They provide fodder for narratives and contribute to a broader framework of activism that can drive or distort reporting rather than simply inform.
Media ‘Gazaology’ exposed: Former AP journalist Matti Friedman
Q: Why does Gaza dominate Western media attention compared to other conflicts?
Because it functions as a mirror for Western audiences, reflecting their own inequalities and anxieties, and because the story is easy to cover from a relatively safe base in Israel, which helps explain the disproportionate focus.
“America is losing…” Trump’s former Iran expert Elliott Abrams
Q: What could and should have been done differently?
He suggests Reagan-era strategies could have been more aggressively integrated, combining economic pressure with political and military actions aimed at weakening the regime while supporting Iranians who oppose it; a more cohesive, less ad hoc plan might have prevented a perception of weakness.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Brink

What is The Brink about and what kind of topics does it cover?

A hard-nosed, globally focused current affairs show that frequently tackles geopolitics, policy, media narratives, and culture wars with a clear libertarian-conservative bent. Across episodes, conversations swing between Middle East diplomacy, Western liberal democracies, education policy, and the state of public discourse, often featuring high-profile commentators, former policymakers, journalists, and academics. The tone blends rigorous analysis with provocative takes, aiming to cut through buzzwords and reveal practical implications for leadership, national security, and societal resilience. Noteworthy is the mix of veteran hosts with a track record in frontline reporting and policy, plus guests who illuminate complex topics from inside ... more
