We discuss Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission, the roguelike bonus campaign included in Final Fantasy X-2 International that serves as an epilogue to the main game. In Last Mission, Yuna, Rikku, and Paine have substantive conversations with each other.
We play through Chapters 4 and 5 of Final Fantasy X-2, which leaves us with mixed feelings as we complete the main game.
We play through Chapter 3 of Final Fantasy X-2, where we lose patience with the game’s disjointed and shallow storytelling.
We play through Chapter 2 of Final Fantasy X-2, which highlights that the tertiary characters of Spira are not that compelling.

I’ve been marathon-ing their Final Fantasy series and it’s been a great way to revisit the games. The podcasters do amazing close reading on dialogue and they really get at character writing and motivations in a way that is rarely found in most game podcasts.
Likable hosts, I like that they really take their time on each game. I dislike that they try to dunk on the games to be mildly humorous. People who are willing to listen to hours and hours of commentary on a game probably don’t want to hear you hate on it 90% of the time when it’s not that funny and often doesn’t feel accurate or in good faith… “This game is for babies. Baby game!” Wow, so, so, funny and so insightful. Good job. So baby that you don’t seem to understand it and get lots of black ... more
I feel like Cameron is a little too tough on Monica. Just my 2 cents.
Best takes, best conversations and best camaraderie between hosts of any show like it! These three really know how to get into the weeds and still have a good time! Their timelines will shock you (but only because they’re correct)
I have always loved Zelda and never cared about Final Fantasy but after listening to them discuss FF I quickly downloaded FF 1-6! The Metroid episodes are also excellent.

Three hosts—Crystal, Monica, and Cameron—bring deep, discursive game-analysis to Nintendo and Square Enix franchises, with frequent dives into Zelda lore, Metroid culture, and Final Fantasy history. Episodes blend close-reading of games, design and pacing debates, and meta-commentary on branding, cross-media strategy, and fan reception. The show stands out for its thoughtful, erudite discussions balanced with playful banter, making it a strong fit for listeners who enjoy rigorous analysis of how lore, game design, and marketing intersect across classic and contemporary titles.
