  • Long time listener

I love this podcast and have listened for years. The ads are out of control. I understand the need for sponsorship, but if they’re going to be as long as they are, then please consider stacking them at the beginning, middle, or end, rather than interjecting ads at random times.

  • Better than Prime

My husband and I have been wanting to put less 💰in the pockets of billionaires, but I wasn’t sure I could give up my Prime. What finally did it was letting ourselves take that money and direct it toward something we’ve been wanting to support. My pick was this podcast. I’m newish to Faith Adjacent, but I’m so appreciative of the perspective they take toward faith. I’m grateful that they visit the sites and subscribe to the things so I don’t have to. And even though I’ve had to do some googling ... more

Instagram Heresy 2: Motherhood, Kristin Stewart, and The Hulk
Q: What makes meme culture a useful entry point for discussing theology in a modern faith community?
Memes distill complex ideas into accessible, shareable formats that invite people to engage and react, creating openings for discussion about how Scripture is read and applied today, even if the memes aren't fully theologically precise.
SWDGISS: Atonement Theories
Q: Why did Jesus have to die?
Different theories explain this: Christus Victor emphasizes victory in a cosmic battle; PSA focuses on paying the debt for sin; moral influence/example emphasizes transformation through love and imitation; kaleidoscope suggests all theories contribute to the broader story of salvation.
SWDGISS: Atonement Theories
Q: Is the idea of atonement present in other religions or just Christianity?
Atonement concepts exist in Judaism and Islam as ways of repairing relationships and communities, not just individuals, and sin is often framed in terms of repairing communal harmony rather than solely personal guilt.
Leaving Christian Nationalism with Reverend Rob Schenck
Q: Is there a route or roots from where Christian nationalism began and how it became what it is in the 21st century?
The origins trace back to a Southernized stream in American evangelicalism, with roots in post-Civil War era culture and the use of religion to justify political power, evolving into a modern Christian nationalist ethos that ties identity to a political project.
Biblical Kids Dodgeball Tournament with Meredith Anne Miller
Q: At what stage or age do you read and discuss the more challenging parts of the Bible with your kids?
Meredith advises focusing on clear and good parts of the Bible before diving into more complex narratives.
