Restoring my faith in faith, one episode at a time.
The Faith Adjacent crew and their conversations calm my nervous system like an alternating cold/hot plunge: do they expose the icky parts of this thing called evangelicalism? Sure do. But then they get me back in the hot tub, warmed by the knowledge that there are smart and thoughtful people who take Jesus seriously enough to expose when his followers are being ridiculous. Thankful for this crew and their entertaining, enlightening, and empowering work!
Never really felt I fit the mold of the evangelical church, and it took being driven out of ours to find this podcast and realize there are Christians like me. I don’t HAVE to abandon myself and my convictions to be a Christian (gasp!)
While I continue to heal, Faith Adjacent has become my “church” - and actually immensely helped my healing process - made me feel not so alone.
I like the discussion and perspective I get from this podcast, but the quantity of the ads you have to endure if you can’t afford to pay for ad free pushed me to the breaking point so I just unsubscribed.
I’m agnostic but former Mormon and this show heals a lot of childhood trauma for me. Even though the hosts are still actively Christian and they discuss more mainstream Christian topics, the discussions of how evangelical behaviors have traumatized them as well really heals my wounds because we’re not alone.
