A couple of the speakers on this podcast are very hyped up and difficult to understand. The content is very good but it gets lost.Hate to complain because this show has potential.
I’ve been a huge Popcast fan for 10 years now and an avid supporter of them. So, as a lifelong reader, I was of course excited when they started another podcast about books. And they have NAILED it! Shelf Respect is both thoughtful and ridiculous. Full of insight, great conversation, amazing recommendations, and always, ALWAYS, lots of laughter, which is why they are the best!
I will listen to anything this crew does !
I love the back and forth banter and the book discussion. My hesitation in giving the podcast 5 stars is, Jamie’s constant use of “aah” & “um”. It is quite annoying and I sometimes cannot stomach listening in one sitting.
When I first started listening, I kind of always had to turn the volume down because it felt like everybody was screaming to be heard. One of the hosts is way too imposing and controlling. The other female host is very passive and conservative. And the man, Knox is the most open minded and well read of the bunch. The springtime episode was way too, Christian. A team of three book-loving hosts brings a high-energy, no-nonsense approach to reading culture. Episodes mix playful debates, lighthearted banter, and community-driven moments as they draft upcoming releases, dissect controversial romances, and critique writing troupes like clichés and authorial choices. The show leans into entertaining, snackable takes on covers, author backgrounds, and reader recommendations, with frequent plugs for audience participation, reviews, and related fan content. A standout is the trio's chemistry and willingness to lean into witty, unvarnished conversations about literature, making it feel like a group of friends who love books as much as they love cracking jokes about them.
