Red Sox fans need commentary that trusts both the intelligence and the passion of their fandom. Mazz calls out the team when it fails, and he does it with facts. Essential listen.

  • Sharp Red Sox analysis

I love the insightful analysis and the guests, especially Jared. Tony Mazz draws on a long history of reporting on the Red Sox and on baseball.

I do get tired of the negativity but when the Sox are bad like last year and early this season, Tony is right to point that out.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Jared Carrabis Joins the Show // Craig Breslow & Sam Kennedy Comments - 6/17
Q: Who do you keep? Who do you get rid of, and specifically what about Wilson Contreras?
I'm keeping Wilson Contreras because of his defense, leadership, and high OPS; he's a veteran presence and valuable right-handed power, making him essential for the current roster.
Jared Carrabis Joins the Show // Craig Breslow’s Comments // Future of Red Sox Front Office - 6/25
Q: What is the state of the Red Sox heading into the trade deadline?
The panel argues that the team is flawed, with a weak offense, uncertain pitching depth, and leadership questions, making a strong case for decisive moves or a strategic reset rather than a passive push toward playoffs.
Matt McCarthy Joins the Show // How Bad do the Red Sox Suck? // Red Sox Trade Deadline Needs - 6/19
Q: Matt, you said before we went to break that you would not trade for established players, you would trade for prospects. Why?
Prospects give you upside and flexibility; established players at the deadline are often costlier, riskier, and may come with more immediate payroll baggage. The idea is to build a foundation through young talent and then acquire established pieces in the off-season when you can better control terms and fit. This approach reduces the risk of a short-sighted fire sale and preserves longer-term upside.
Craig Breslow’s Pregame Comments // Ian Browne Joins the Show // Red Sox vs Blue Jays - 6/16
Q: What would you do with Wilson Contreras at the trade deadline—keep or trade?
Ian Browne argues Contreras is a key asset in a big-market environment and should be considered for retention if the right balance of immediate value and future potential exists, though heavy offers could still sway the decision.
Craig Breslow’s Pregame Comments // Ian Browne Joins the Show // Red Sox vs Blue Jays - 6/16
Q: Can the market change how you view being a buyer or seller, and could you inch toward selling for a greater return?
Breslow explains that while you don't want to undervalue the season, you must listen to offers and set thresholds to avoid sacrificing the current year; the decision hinges on whether offers meet those thresholds without wrecking long-term plans.
