Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Brad McMakin - Arkansas Men's Golf Coach
Q: How does a guy from Beaumont relate to all of these international kids and be so successful?
I think that kind of helped with when we started with Nicholas, you know. But our women's team does a good job too down in South America.
Brad McMakin - Arkansas Men's Golf Coach
Q: How are you recruiting and how are you kind of spreading the gospel of the facility and the program?
The Blessings is pretty special. We have a small number of members at our club and we have access seven days a week, and there's no tee times when we can play 36 holes in a day.
Brad McMakin - Arkansas Men's Golf Coach
Q: Is it facilities? Is it schedule? Is it the fact that has PGA Tour U kind of put it in the players mind that if you're not at a school that plays a kind of a PGA Tour U schedule?
Facilities wise, the reason I took the Arkansas job is that Mr. Tyson just built the blessings and built one of the first new facilities on campus.
Brad McMakin - Arkansas Men's Golf Coach
Q: How do you see the health and success and just the place of mid-majors in the landscape of college golf right now?
Yeah, I think it's difficult. We had a good run there at the end, you know, it started with Chris Stroud, who committed to us and brought Sean Stefani with him, both played the PGA Tour.
Brad McMakin - Arkansas Men's Golf Coach
Q: Can you just speak to just, like, what it's like having that brotherhood of college coaches where you're all trying to succeed, but you need each other's help?
There's no doubt about it. To get a good field and get the fields that you want, you got to have your friends that had taught programs to come to your events, you know, and that's what makes the event so great.
