The 10 Most Common Detailing Questions I Get Asked
Q: Why isn't my foam thick, and does thick foam actually clean better?
Thick foam does not inherently clean better; foam thickness is driven by equipment and formulation, while cleaning performance depends on the overall formula and how it dwells on the surface and interacts with the dirt.
The 10 Most Common Detailing Questions I Get Asked
Q: What detailing products do I actually need for normal car care?
Start with a core, minimal lineup: a soap, an interior cleaner, a polish, a water-spot remover, and a versatile dressing. Everything else should be added only if it clearly replaces or complements those basics, keeping the routine simple and repeatable.
The 10 Most Common Detailing Questions I Get Asked
Q: Can a beginner apply a ceramic coating without messing it up?
Yes. With proper setup, lighting, and a reasonable workspace, a beginner can apply a wipe-on ceramic coating successfully, and it's been made more user-friendly than in the past; the key is following basic prep and application steps rather than risking a poor process.
The 10 Most Common Detailing Questions I Get Asked
Q: What actually matters more, the product, the tool, or the technique?
The answer is that all three matter, with a practical hierarchy: technique is foundational, but the right tool and a solid product greatly enhance the outcome and user experience; the best result comes from balancing all three rather than relying on one alone.
Do You Really Need an IPA Wipe Before Ceramic Coating?
Q: Can you use the Picture Perfect Polish and then go straight to applying the ceramic coating, skipping panel prep and IPA wipes?
Yes. The polish is engineered to cut, finish, and be virtually ready for coating, so you can apply the ceramic coating without a separate IPA wipe or panel prep if you're using Picture Perfect Polish, though you can still choose to use panel prep if you want to, with similar results.
