This podcast should be sub-titled something like, “A look at The Lord of the Rings through the lens of Harry Potter.” I enjoyed the latest episodes of “Drunk Middle Earth History” so decided to start from the beginning, but I’m well into The Two Towers episodes and it’s like 30%-50% Potterverse discussion and comparisons. Kind of like comparing a fine wine to a grape juice box, but sure, everyone’s got their preferences. It’s just not what I came for. more
I deeply enjoy this podcast, with all of my heart. That being said, I want to scream sometimes. That’s probably because I’ve read a lot of old books and learned how to read them (literally. I have taken several classes and they actually worked), and you didn’t because duh, why would you? Got to episode 2 and about 20 minutes into the episode before I stopped listening. Literally 3 minutes was about the LotR and the rest of the time was either tangents, introductions, or spoilers by the guest. Felt like the podcast should’ve focused more on the content rather than just another irrelevant podcast using a critically acclaimed series and pun name to gain views. It didn’t deserve half the attention I paid to it.
Loved hearing her talk. Her way of engaging with the story and her guests is entertaining and I love hearing MC talk. more
I really like that you let me know more about Two Towers and I love spoilers. I actually really like The Silmarillion. I’d prefer if there was less chat about things not in the books in the show though.
