This is a good show but ranting about hearing from your listeners gets old fast. “Please write in to tell me about this thing so in two episodes I can rant about how annoying it is to hear from people!” It makes a good show almost unlistenable
Schubes continues to deliver high quality podcasts that whenever you go listen to another pod, you can’t help but miss the audio quality Mike and his team put in. This guy makes me want to be a better person and I adore his comedy and Percy Jackson recaps.
I’m currently listening to episode 159 (Frank’s second narration chapter) and just passed the anniversary of a dear friend’s death. The book’s description of his grief and shooting his grandmother’s china in the yard before his mother’s funeral resonated with me. The morning after Anna’s death, after a night of maybe an hour or two of sleep, I got in the car and started driving and ended up at a church, lit some candles (I grew up catholic), and then a park. All simply to not be in my apartment ... more
