  • Useful info but Joe too bossy

Usually gain insights from this podcast. Enjoyed Alex’s March Madness and Joe was even bossier than usual, and that’s saying something. Don’t take it, Alex!

  • China?

More great information from Joe and Alex. Besides the fascinating facts on how independents and soft Republicans are actually paying attention to real facts and are heavily critical of this regime. China? Meddling in our elections? They’re pulling up China? So I thought for sure they went and got Maduro so they could trot him out right before the mid terms to tell us that Venezuela actually is responsible for the tampering with the last presidential elections. Quid pro quo .

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

"America didn't vote for this" with Ira Shapiro
Q: Tell us your take on what we didn't vote for and why it's important to hammer that message.
Ira explains the need to articulate a coalition of opposition that can unite Democrats, independents, and even some Republican-leaning voters around the core idea that the current administration has caused widespread damage to institutions, and that a broader, revitalizing agenda is required to restore trust and reform governance.
"Democrats! Time to double down!"
Q: Do you think the Supreme Court decisions on mail-in voting and campaign finance will significantly alter the year's outcomes?
Mail-in voting rules will require vigilance over postal service changes; campaign finance decisions will complicate messaging, but the hosts think money alone won't erase brand damage from MAGA, so a broad mobilization is needed.
"Democrats! Time to double down!"
Q: With Platner stepping down, how damaged are Democrats' chances in Maine?
The hosts believe there is a strong bench in Maine and that the Democrats can refocus on a candidate who can beat Collins, especially given Platner's baggage; the race will pivot to who can be the credible messenger and unify the party.
Why We Will Win Kansas with Patrick Schmidt
Q: What makes Kansas a competitive race for a Democrat in this cycle?
Schmidt argues that local issues, a strong ground game, and a record of standing up to corruption can mobilize voters who are discontent with national trends, and that a pragmatic, issue-focused message can win in a state where voters are receptive to practical solutions.
MAGA Can't Win California
Q: What are the top two or three tactical moves Democrats should focus on in this climate?
Focus on clear, concrete cost-of-living messaging, tie opponents to corruption or failed policy outcomes, and craft communications that connect national issues to local experiences, especially for key groups like independents and Latinos.
