  • This is not an audio podcast

You have to watch it somewhere, on youtube maybe? For a larger part of episode I was listening host and guest was doing something with some app saying things like "and then you click here" or "the errors you see is what I am talking about" without actually explaining what is "here" or how those errors looks like or anything. Even if I was unlucky and this is not common a fair warning about this specific episode requiring watching is a respectful and polite thing to do. Not to mention that what I... more

  • It’s a dream come true speaking with Joe

I have been a great fan of Joe since 2019. I used to listen to his podcasts every now and then and learned a great deal myself in automation space. He puts a lot of hard work to bring the right technical content in a very nice observable format for all levels of listeners.

I had an amazing experience talking to him in a podcast. It’s definitely a dream come true for me. And am so thankful to him for giving the opportunity to share my journey. His podcasts help a lot of engineers. I definitely ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Maestro MCP, AI Mobile Testing That Fixes Its Own Tests with Leland Takamine
Q: What makes Maestro different from other AI-testing approaches that rely on natural language instructions at runtime?
Maestro emphasizes deterministic tests generated from YAML with code caching, avoiding runtime AI code generation for tests to ensure reliability and reproducibility in CI workflows.
Maestro MCP, AI Mobile Testing That Fixes Its Own Tests with Leland Takamine
Q: Is this truly hands-off, or do humans still need to be in the loop for QA ownership?
There is a practical balance; Maestro caters to both engineers and testers, and MCP enables agents to handle much of the work while humans remain accountable for defining what to test and guiding coverage.
Stop Rewriting Tests: How to Add AI to Selenium and Playwright Without Starting Over with Alex Rodionov
Q: How does Aluminium relate to other AI features in Playwright or MCP-style approaches?
Aluminium does not rely on Playwright's own self-healing or agents; it can operate alongside or on top of existing flows, including an MCP mode with Markdown tests, but is a separate approach focused on execution and prompts rather than just test creation or update.
Stop Rewriting Tests: How to Add AI to Selenium and Playwright Without Starting Over with Alex Rodionov
Q: How does Aluminium handle token costs and performance overhead from LLM calls?
Aluminium uses low-tier models and caching to minimize calls; a single test can cost less than a cent, and caching means repeated actions skip unnecessary LLM steps, keeping performance comparable to running tests directly in Selenium or Playwright.
Stop Rewriting Tests: How to Add AI to Selenium and Playwright Without Starting Over with Alex Rodionov
Q: What is Aluminium and why was it built?
Aluminium is an open-source AI layer designed to sit atop existing test frameworks like Selenium, Playwright, or Appium, so teams can write less code and have more resilient tests by leveraging AI to understand UI structure via the accessibility tree.
