  • Great content with one caveat

Great information about utilizing NGSS in an approachable way, I'm just having a hard time listening with all of the “like”s and “or whatever”s. Would be more palatable if the hosts worked on removing those from their vocabulary.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Building a Classroom Community Series Part 2: Respect Agreements and Community Circles
Q: Why not just give them a set of rules on the first day of school instead of letting them co-create?
Giving students ownership increases buy-in and relevance; co-creating rules helps ensure the expectations reflect the classroom's realities and improves adherence.
Building a Classroom Community Series Part 2: Respect Agreements and Community Circles
Q: What would you say to a teacher who is like, I don't have time to do that because we have so much content to get to?
It's an investment; starting with a regular, short weekly practice creates predictable routines that pay off later, because when conflicts arise you already have a framework to address them efficiently.
Building a Classroom Community Series Part 2: Respect Agreements and Community Circles
Q: So can you talk briefly about just like what a community circle is for people who just aren't familiar with that idea?
A community circle is a structured, student-run meeting where students sit in a circle, discuss guided questions, and follow clear expectations with a talking piece to ensure everyone has a turn, gradually led by students themselves as they gain confidence.
