  • Top Notch Pod

It’s a niche topic. If you’re interested in it, Mike AP is running a great show. He is a skilled interviewer and allows his guests to tell their tales. Enlightening and amusing. Highly recommend.

  • Way too many self-promoting loudmouths lately talking about “other stuff”—not enough blackjack

Good podcast, but I’m so over all these people talking about “other AP” and how there will always be “other opportunities” when they all do the same exact (single) thing and are just poisoning the well so we can all make Uber-driving level money. They used to have the courtesy to be discrete. Wake up!!

  • Brilliant podcast!

One of my favourite podcasts to listen to, especially on those long drives between casinos. I love the laid back interview style, it really feels like the host (Mike AP) is kicking back and chatting over a few beers with his guests rather than a formal interview. Would recommend to all APs

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 138: More Mailbag Time
Q: Is it worth the extra heat to back-count versus playing all counts, and how should one measure this?
Heat is highly situational and varies by casino; use simulations (e.g., CVCX or other software) to compare EV and risk of ruin for back-counting versus playing all counts, and consider real-world factors like table turnover and dealer speed to judge practicality.
Episode 138: More Mailbag Time
Q: When should a new advantage player consider moving beyond traditional counting to add side bets or other tools?
A new player should only expand once they are consistently proficient at base counting and can convert counts reliably into practical decisions; adding side bets should come after mastering the core skills and ensuring the higher complexity will not erode their edge.
PAID SUBS Commercial free Version: Nickels and I Answer More Listeners Questions! (Updated 7/5/26)
Q: What are some obvious body language signs new APs should avoid?
Don't look shifty or paranoid; avoid obvious tells like tense demeanor, excessive movement, or obvious attention to the count, and manage your betting spread to avoid tipping off observers. Use a calm, confident presence and dress to blend in with the environment while maintaining appropriate bet sizing.
Episode 139: Advantage Slot Play & Comp Hustling (Updated 7/7/26)
Q: How did your big stadium-gaming play unfold and what was the result?
We coordinated about 20 people to run terminals that pushed large volumes of slot play, converting it into cash through comping and tank management; it produced around $5,000 an hour across all terminals, but ultimately drew attention and was shut down by the suits.
Episode 139: Advantage Slot Play & Comp Hustling (Updated 7/7/26)
Q: What got you into playing slots and the other things you do besides blackjack?
It started as a way to unlock better comping through higher carded play and evolved as I learned about promotions, and then I discovered that slots offered an edge through coin-in and promotions that could be exploited at scale.
