  • No religion

Don’t use your bully pulpit to spread your superstitions/god. It’s offensive and shows ignorance about science. You’re great at investing. Please keep it to that.

  • Balanced, thoughtful approach to trading

I’ve been listening to Ryan’s podcast for a few years now. I appreciate that he doesn’t hype himself up to be the best trader ever, that he doesn’t exaggerate to make it sound like being successful at trading doesn’t require commitment, and that he seems to genuinely care about about people being successful at both trading and managing their money. I also enjoy his relatable delivery method and that he used listener’s questions for episodes.

Thanks Ryan for the podcast and God bless!

  • A must-listen for any trader

I’ve listened to over 160 episodes in just a few weeks — Ryan’s podcast is that good. As someone who used to think trading was just gambling, this show flipped that mindset completely. His focus on risk management and trading with discipline has helped me build a process I actually trust.

I also appreciate his willingness to share his faith and his bourbon reviews — bonus points there. If you’re serious about learning to trade the right way, start here

Tightening The Risk On Trades
Q: How many risk-on positions do you typically manage at once?
I manage a gradual number of positions, taking care not to go all-in to effectively manage risk.
Tightening The Risk On Trades
Q: How do you calculate risk when trading options?
Using the full premium as potential loss is common, but that requires a doubling in value to achieve a one-to-one ratio, which is unrealistic.
Trading with a Full-Time Job
Q: How manageable is the research and the stock watchlist making and having a full-time job?
It is realistic to balance trading and a full-time job, and several strategies can help.
Better Trades Versus The Best Trade
Q: How do you determine the best reward risk ratio from a list of healthy looking charts?
It's essential to know your risk tolerance and to eliminate trades that don't fit within this profile, as well as to understand the current market conditions and to avoid being swayed by personal expectations.
Putting it All On One Trade
Q: Do you invest long-term? If so, can you give me a percentage of the amount of money that you use for long-term investing and the percentage of money that you use for swing trading?
Yes, I do long-term investing, and I typically split my invested capital about 50-50 between long-term investments and swing trading most of the time.
