  • No religion

Don’t use your bully pulpit to spread your superstitions/god. It’s offensive and shows ignorance about science. You’re great at investing. Please keep it to that.

  • Balanced, thoughtful approach to trading

I’ve been listening to Ryan’s podcast for a few years now. I appreciate that he doesn’t hype himself up to be the best trader ever, that he doesn’t exaggerate to make it sound like being successful at trading doesn’t require commitment, and that he seems to genuinely care about about people being successful at both trading and managing their money. I also enjoy his relatable delivery method and that he used listener’s questions for episodes.

Thanks Ryan for the podcast and God bless!

Talking Points

Passive Investing The Right Way
Q: Would it be profitable long term to make a recurring buy of $2 a day, or a small amount of money at least, into the S&P 500, specifically SPY, as a passive investment while also swing trading?
Yes, over the long run dollar-cost averaging into the market can work, especially if one combines it with prudent timing cues and risk management; the key is maintaining steady contributions, using indicators to guide entries, and having dry powder to take advantage of downswings.
Where To Place Your Stop-Loss
Q: How much risk is acceptable to open a position?
Risk tolerance differs from person to person, but generally, a 2% risk is manageable for some stocks; however, more volatile stocks may require a higher percentage to avoid being stopped out.
Where To Place Your Stop-Loss
Q: Is it better to use a stop loss based off of support lines on the chart or a percentage stop?
It's better to use key trade support levels rather than arbitrary percentages for stop losses, as they provide a meaningful reference point for when to exit a trade.
The Best Charting Platform for Trading
Q: Is TradingView really worth the hype?
While many experienced traders use TradingView, Ryan shares that his preferred charting platform is Tc2000, and discusses the capabilities and functionalities of both platforms along with others.
Trading with Luck and Skill
Q: Did I get this trade right or was it just luck?
The trade worked well, but both luck and skill play roles in trading.
