  • Good hangout vibes

This podcast is one of my new favorites. One of the best parts of going out with a group of friends to see the latest superhero movies is the time spent afterwards, hanging out in front of the theater, dissecting and appreciating what we've just witnessed. Derrick and Perry capture that feeling in every episode, with a great mix of their personal takes on the subject films, what works and what doesn't, production history and trivia they've researched, and an overall love of the genre. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

SCP #233 – Batman: Year One (2011)
Q: Where can listeners find you and your work?
I publish under Gordondymoski; you can find my written work on Amazon and in Chicago Whovians United channels; I also have a Patreon and a personal site for my work.
SCP #233 – Batman: Year One (2011)
Q: What's your relationship with Year One?
I read the Year One comic back in high school and reread it before the adaptation; I find it more Gordon Year One than Batman Year One, with Jim Gordon's arc driving the story and Bruce Wayne feeling a bit secondary.
SCP #231 – Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020)
Q: What were you thinking about as you were watching this film?
Stacy notes that the movie felt surprisingly topical, especially in its immigration angle and Clark's exploration of identity. He highlights the rapid origin beats as a strength and a weakness—solid practical storytelling but some elements feel rushed or speed-run in service of fitting into the Tomorrowverse. He also comments on the ensemble cast and the balance between familiar dynamics and fresh interpretations.
SBP #4 - Green Lantern: Blackest Night
Q: What did you think of the portrayal of characters such as Firestorm?
I thought it was well done, and I became invested in the dynamics of Jason and Jen's relationship, making me care for their fate.
SBP #4 - Green Lantern: Blackest Night
Q: What do you think of the multicolored Lantern core concept?
I enjoy it, but it would have been better if there had been more context provided about each core's significance.
