It’s a good thing that there are so many superhero/comic book movies, because that means we get to continue to hear Perry & co. discuss them all with passion and insight. Great show for fans of comics, movies, and movies based on comics. 👍

  • Good hangout vibes

This podcast is one of my new favorites. One of the best parts of going out with a group of friends to see the latest superhero movies is the time spent afterwards, hanging out in front of the theater, dissecting and appreciating what we've just witnessed. Derrick and Perry capture that feeling in every episode, with a great mix of their personal takes on the subject films, what works and what doesn't, production history and trivia they've researched, and an overall love of the genre. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

SBP #13 – Superman: The Man of Steel vol. 1
Q: What was the initial impact of John Byrne's reboot on Superman's central identity?
Byrne established a grounded Clark Kent and a more mythic, action-forward Superman, setting a template for the modern look and feel of the character that influenced subsequent adaptations.
SBP Classic – Batwoman: Elegy
Q: What were your opinions going back and rereading this story?
Kenisha notes that the pacing feels quicker on reread, but the art and character focus remain strong, with the visual storytelling and Kate Kane's relationships driving the story more than the central villain plot.
SBP #10 – Planetary: Leaving the 20th Century
Q: Was this volume more about world-building or character development, and how did that affect the payoff?
It shifts toward character-driven storytelling, weaving in flashbacks to Elijah Snow's past and his team's dynamics, which deepens why the group acts the way they do and sets up the endgame with Dowling and the four.
SBP Classic – The Bounce
Q: What did you think of the overall meta story of these two universes colliding?
The guests discuss the concept as intriguing and creative, noting its Marvel/DC vibe and how the cross-universe premise drives both potential and faults in the narrative.
SBP Classic – The Bounce
Q: But what about you? Did you have any familiarity with Casey or did you just kind of come into this completely cold?
Kae explains they came to The Bounce cold, drawn by the art and story, and found the execution and themes worth unpacking.
