Listening to Sunday School every week has deeply changed the experience of Sunday Mass, taking time to go so deep into the readings, make connections, understand background, context, references etc has been profound and increased my love of scripture and Mass.

  • Let Scott Speak!!

This is an absolutely amazing podcast. I would give it 5 stars but JD is just too much. I tune in to hear Scott Powell teach. JD comes in and interrupts, argues, and generally slows down Powell’s dynamic exegesis. He has to often be corrected and we even hear at times that JD’s random and unrelated questions take time away from Powell’s explanations. It’s absolutely obnoxious, and I have spoken to many listeners who feel the same way. Please, please, please get out of Powell’s way.

  • Disapointed

So shocked to hear JD swear throughout this episode… I don’t think I can listen anymore. Thank you Scott and Kate for your insight and maybe I will tune in again when the shock wears off

Judas’ betrayal and all the sandwiches
Q: Why is there a focus on the dialogue regarding Judas during the Last Supper?
The thought exercise highlights Judas' close proximity to Jesus and how that amplifies the tragedy of his betrayal, suggesting Jesus attempted to reach out and turn him back.
Judas’ betrayal and all the sandwiches
Q: Was Judas' betrayal the wicked act, or was it the dread and suicide that followed?
Judas' betrayal was definitely a wicked act, but it raises an interesting point about whether he also felt dread and despair afterwards, indicating a deeper complexity to his character.
Shadows and the healing of Thomas
Q: Do you think that the Apostles themselves would have, their understanding of this breathing exercise would have been creation-centric?
I don't think so. I don't know what they're saying at the time, but I think this is a big moment in how they are initiating a new creation through Jesus' resurrection and their sending.
Shadows and the healing of Thomas
Q: At this time, where there are a lot of other, I mean, the other messiahs or messiah wannabes were still pretty active, so was it hard for people to kind of, I don't know, understand Peter's and the Apostles' relationship with Jesus, that they weren't just Jesus 2.0?
I think a lot of people probably thought they were Jesus 2.0, but Peter and the Apostles seem really determined to dispel that notion and direct attention back to Jesus as the true figure of faith.
Here comes Simon Peter Cottontail
Q: Can you imagine being Peter?
Yeah, I don't know what I'm going to find when I get there. I wonder if part of...
