  • I Learn So Much

I learn so much about the Bible every week! From the context and intent of the books to the greater theme that is present in the week’s readings, I am constantly in awe of the Church’s wisdom and the depth of God’s plan for salvation. In to Dr. Powell’s explanations, Kate and JD never fail to ask insightful questions that I would never have thought of but that unearth a new richness of meaning. Most importantly, I look forward to and am more attentive during Mass each week, which is its own bles... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The weeping prophet and the door keeper
Q: Tim, why isn't what you get at the Amazing Parish Leadership Summit just another set of ideas to store on a shelf and ignore, rather than a renewal-focused program?
Tim explains that the summit aims to renew leaders by forming them as renewal-minded, Holy Spirit-filled, and oriented toward healthy teamwork and active discipleship, not just a step-by-step playbook; the emphasis is on personal renewal that translates into better parish leadership.
‘Increase our faith,’ and God answers Habakkuk
Q: Can I ask you a question?
It discusses how Habakkuk is witnessing the rise of Babylon and what that means for the people.
Wine from bowls, and Lazarus finger water
Q: What's the purpose of the prophets?
The purpose is for God to warn the people and urge them to turn back, even though many may not listen.
Judas’ betrayal and all the sandwiches
Q: Why is there a focus on the dialogue regarding Judas during the Last Supper?
The thought exercise highlights Judas' close proximity to Jesus and how that amplifies the tragedy of his betrayal, suggesting Jesus attempted to reach out and turn him back.
Judas’ betrayal and all the sandwiches
Q: Was Judas' betrayal the wicked act, or was it the dread and suicide that followed?
Judas' betrayal was definitely a wicked act, but it raises an interesting point about whether he also felt dread and despair afterwards, indicating a deeper complexity to his character.
