  • Good but could be better

Overexplain a lot of concepts and ideas. I understand that a major problem with analytics is that they are often misconstrued, but at times you guys dumb it down far too much. Anyone listening likely already has a pretty high level knowledge of the concepts and analytics and metrics you refer to and overexplain

  • Solid stuff

They talk about football in a NOT SHOUTING hot takes skip bayless kind of way. Actually smart guys who bring up good points both stats wise and talk about futures / Xs and Os. Have made money making some bets after listening to some episodes

  • Unique Football Perspective

The combo of data driven thinking and experience in an NFL organization as a decision maker makes the pod stand out.

Appreciate the humility of both Eric and Thomas to have strong opinions while understanding that there are limitations to doing things solely their way (modeling and traditional scouting respectively).

Some of the most informative football conversations out there. Stats and schemes is also an incredibly valuable listen.

  • Just ok

Does Eric get paid for every use of the word “right?” If not, he ought to watch it. I lost count at 1k during the most recent podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Offensive Line Combine Workouts & Tight-End Evolution w/ Sam Schwartzstein
Q: What makes tight ends valuable beyond traditional receiving stats, and how might that affect contracts and rankings in the near future?
Tight ends offer versatility—receiving ability, blocking, alignment flexibility, and red-zone impact—which means teams may value them for multiple roles and price them differently than those who are purely receivers or blockers. As offenses continue to utilize 12 and 13 personnel and emphasize matchup-driven schemes, the premium on complete tight ends will grow, influencing contract dynamics.
The Evaluation Process w/ Greg Cosell
Q: What trends in scheme or evaluation do you think will shape the current draft class?
Cosell discusses shifts like the four across umbrella/cover four and the increasing importance of defensive tackles and versatility in defensing schemes, along with how coaching philosophy affects quarterback development and deployment.
The Evaluation Process w/ Greg Cosell
Q: How many players have you evaluated to this point as you prepare for the draft?
Cosell explains he has already seen a large portion of the top prospects in detail, watching multiple full games to gauge traits and scheme fit, with more to come as he digs deeper after the combine.
Does the Combine Matter? w/ Jourdan Rodrigue
Q: What do you see as the biggest shifts in how teams value data, technology, and people in building their rosters?
She notes a growing tech integration in scouting, the importance of centralized data and medical evaluations, and the need to blend analytics with human judgment and coaching instincts to create flexible, repeatable systems.
Does the Combine Matter? w/ Jourdan Rodrigue
Q: How has your role evolved from a Rams-focused lens to covering the entire NFL, and what have you learned along the way?
Jourdan explains that expanding to the national stage required embracing a broad, discipline-driven process, leveraging mentors, and building a framework to explore topics deeply while remaining curious and adaptable.
