  • Excellent and inspiring

Brilliant and inspirational podcast for people who walks, cycles or wheels in the UK. Like ‘War on Cars’ but less angry and combative. Even better, after listening to the interview with Westminster City Council's Max Sullivan (on the side road Zebras episode) I emailed him about a dangerous part of my commute and it was sorted out!

  • A valuable alternate perspective on bike advocacy

Very interesting to hear how bike advocacy is "the same but different" in England vs. the US. I should however deduct a star after Laura Laker jinxed my bike by talking about flat tires on the Paris Olympics show. Puncture resistant belts not withstanding, I got my first flat in several years on the very next ride.

How to help women feel safe cycling
Q: Kate Bartlett, can you tell us about your background and how you developed the scheme that analyzes London's cycle routes for social safety?
I'm a PhD student in active travel, leading a study where volunteers ride every route on the TfL cycleway map, rating how safe they feel and noting lighting, surroundings, and escape routes, to build a comprehensive safety profile.
Outputs not outcomes (CWIS3)
Q: What do you want to achieve with this letter and what happens next?
The aim is to remind the government that targets need to be measurable and that real investment is needed for active travel, reflecting a broad support for bold ambition in this area.
Outputs not outcomes (CWIS3)
Q: When did the organization become about more than bicycles?
It has always been about more than bicycles, as the original cycle paths were designed for walkers, horse riders, and those with dogs.
Pavement Parking: An Unhappy Fifth Birthday
Q: What was the thinking behind the pavement parking map?
The map was created to show that pavement parking is a widespread issue that needs to be addressed.
Lisbon’s Streets and the People Trying to Change Them
Q: Do you have a target for your term?
No, not yet, but we want to increase dedicated lanes for mobility, ensuring it's not against people's habits.
