  • My step parenting mentor!

Hearing so many familiar struggles with Katie’s sensitive and non judgemental support has been literally a life line. I follow one other step parenting podcast only but this is so relatable, at times I cried and laughed but mostly just felt heard and normal! Listening has gradually turned my shame guilt and over thinking of all the things I get wrong into positive action or mostly in fact inaction ! Wish I knew about this 10 years ago but I am so grateful and encourage anyone who is looking for ... more

  • The Podcast I didn’t know I needed and I’m so happy I found!

Katie is a delightful host and her conversations with other stepmoms are so brave and inspiring - they give me the reassurance I need when I’m feeling doubtful. They bring to light the issues we don’t always feel confident discussing. Such a safe and encouraging space.

Chronic Adjustment: Why Some Stepmums Stay in “Careful Mode” for Years (Listener Question)
Q: As always, the names are anonymized, but the feelings and situations are very real. Now, this week's question comes from Zoe. She says, I've been with my partner six years, and I still feel like a guest in my own home when his kids are here.
Katie validates Zoe's experience, explains that six years should not be the norm for feeling like a guest, and distinguishes between healthy adjustment and chronic adjustment. She outlines how chronic adjustment develops—through repeated self-editing and reduced entitlement to space—and emphasizes that change requires internal repositioning first, followed by small, repeatable behavioral shifts, rather than pep talks.
